To be fair, he was one of the main reasons India were consistently getting into those knockout games. But I agree, his record lacks that final touch.I mean that's all well and good but 25 across 10 games in finals is ****ing woeful. He's anti-clutch.
I've been characteristically generous to Sharma in making these posts and included all finals, not just WC finals. I know he's had a reasonably long career but he hasn't played in 10 of the 12 ODI WC finals which have been held since 1975.I usually put Rohit in these teams and Burgey being against it because of his favourite muh WC knockouts argument wants to keep doing it out of spite, but Lara opening with Tendulkar is actually so tempting. Tough. Will decide after I drink six beers and call @Adders a dickhead.
The poor bloke can't cope with the great Matt Henry who owns subcontinent sides in ODIs.I mean I''m not saying he's a spud, of course he isn't. He's a brutal player. It's just a substantial hole in his record.
Lara and Tendulkar make a lot of sense as opener not just for the best of the best dynamic, but left-right hand combo and generally they were both excellent against high quality attacks in these positions.I usually put Rohit in these teams and Burgey being against it because of his favourite muh WC knockouts argument wants to keep doing it out of spite, but Lara opening with Tendulkar is actually so tempting. The problem is how to tabulate, since there will be several 1 and 7 combos, and posters will want one based on the selection of the other, so if one gets in and the other doesnt, it becomes a mess. At least this way, you can see the team evolve and decide who fits it based on the existing side.Should actually be voting for all the remaining players one time now. Or at least number 1 and 7 should go simultaneously, possibly after 8. We ended up with a bunch of spuds with the bat in the 1st team last time this exercise was run, and a bunch of spuds with the ball in the 2nd, cos people were voting on who they thought were the best players, not the best team.
Yeah **** it. Lets do it.Lara and Tendulkar make a lot of sense as opener not just for the best of the best dynamic, but left-right hand combo and generally they were both excellent against high quality attacks in these positions.
These 2 people should be bannedBairstow with 2
Voting is a farce
Yes, but if you feel strongly about it this thread (literally "vote" for a team) is probably not the one for you lolVoting sucks.
I think if Watson or Jayasuriya win the #1 spot it could change who some people want at 7, so we should do them separately IMO.Should actually be voting for all the remaining players one time now. Number 7 and 8 should impact whether people want Watson/Jaya as well. Neither are the best bat and shouldn't get in if playing 5 quality bowlers, but I'd like to see Watson in if a Klusener level (or a worse) bowler is batting 7.I think if Watson or Jayasuriya win the #1 spot it could change who some people want at 7, so we should do them separately IMO.
I think voters who prefer Watson or Jaya feel strongly about having more regular bowling options regardless of who is 7 or 8, whereas those voting a pure bat are comfy with maybe Tendulkar/Viv taking that part timer role.Number 7 and 8 should impact whether people want Watson/Jaya as well. Actually, after consideration, I agree with you. I am switching my vote from Lara to Jaya.As much as I love Lara, the second spinner is important in ODIs.
Jayasuriya
