In a world of quotas I still don't see the hype of Heinrich Klassens, he is a very good fc player at best, is he our jessie kriel for cricket?

Man what a stagnant looking squad. Probably see them doing something like this:

1. Erwee
2. Elgar (C)
3. Rassie
4. Bavuma
5. Zondo
6. Verreynne (Wk)
7. Jansen
8. Maharaj
9. Rabada
10. Nortje
11. Ngidi

I think we are going to lose our streak in Australia boys!
We need 7 batsmen,4 bowlers rather for out batting woes, if desperate someone in top 7 must bowl a bit also. We don't need 4 out and out quickies with our batting lineup unless Coetzee and Jansen play covering 7 and 8.

I'm well aware mate, but this is the team I think we will see judging by the last few series. Just cobble together 250-300 and let our bowlers loose. That's the plan. If a team scores 400+ against us we might as well call it a night.

About right, surely Australian wickets wont swing around like in Mud Island

Im waiting for them to drop Maharaj again to play the 5 man pace attack…

Neither of them should be batting at 7. The only bowler we currently have who's a realistic option there is Mulder, but until they decide to back him and give him an extended run in the side, we need to go with seven batters and four bowlers, as tempting as it is to go with the four quicks and Maharaj.

Rabada has yet to make 50 in any format, while Jansen has has five from 25 first class matches, which is a decent return. So he should be the one batting higher.
Yeah Jansen hasn't really done much yet but he's clearly something approaching a bowling allrounder. Rabada should be more worried about being demoted behind Nortje.

I shall tag @GoodAreasShane to collect my brownie points for this post.

Ja, Jansen at 8 is solid, 7 is a spot too high for him I think.

A tail of Jansen at 8, Maharaj at 9, Rabada at 10, and then Nortje or Ngidi at 11 would be OK.

This is what it should be, ideally with Mulder at 8 to help balance things. And you also have Coetzee as backup to Nortje/Ngidi. Then you also have to pick a decent top 6 though...

I think Jansen has shown the potential to bat at 7, and maybe one day he will do so. But he's not there yet, and needs to prove himself at a lower level before being thrust into that role in tests., especially given how short of runs the specialist batters have been.

Why doesn't South African cricket throw all rounders into the deep end anymore ?
How are you ever going to become a reliable batsman if you hardly ever have the opportunity to bat time or a meaningful innings in a healthy situation...I remember in the 90's and early 2000's ..SA cricket was a lot more comfortable sending all rounders up the order from time to time ..Guys like Klusener , McMillan, Pollock , Hall , Boje ...I think that should be revisited..A guy like Mulder could benefit from that .
