How Lucky are England in ICC tournaments ?

No , I am not attributing trophy to merely toss win because even to reach last 4 you have to play very good cricket. But I am seeing a pattern that in last 3 WT20 ,all the knockouts have been won by team batting 2nd . So is batting becoming easy in 2nd half or scoreboard pressure no longer applicable.

And other thing is England is yet to win a knockout batting 1st since 2015 . Didn’t we have suggestions in Test match to get rid of toss (Ponting?) .So what can be done in knockouts so that team batting 2nd don’t win all the matches (9 out of 9 in the last 3 WT20)

Two quotes regarding luck in sport are worth remembering:

"You make your own luck."

"The harder I work/practise the luckier I get."
Only ever said by lucky people.

English players very lucky to benefit from good infrastructure due to a relatively good economy built on the back of colonialism.

It’s all falling apart now because you can only ride on stolen wealth for so long but they have a huge headstart.

That's a rather large chip on your shoulder,

The fact is most of limited overs is built around good pitches and lots of runs, we are undoubtably and by far the best on these type of pitches, The fact is administrators have saddled us with dud pitches for most of these Tournaments, we still won two, but have been very unlucky to play on sponges.

We will console ourselves with two World Cups though.

In last 3 WT20 (16,21,22) all the 9 knockout matches have been won by team batting 2nd. I can certainly see a pattern.
Excellent. ICC can shorten the game time and maximise sales by just having a coin toss to decide who will bat 2nd.

GAME OVER.

Cricket may face an IP challenge from the Coin Toss Super Max League Plus though.

Good idea, maybe the most sensible of the thread so far.

Yet I fear Simon Cowell actually tried to build an entire show around this with Ant&Dec, it bombed.

I think batting second in t 20 is mostly an advantage as teams batting first struggle to decode the ideal score so can go too hard or too slow.

In other formats its not not much of a advantage going first or second.

It literally takes 10 minutes for it to be decided, they should have a bowl out before game or have 1 over with most boundaries scored to Decide.
