Now that we’ve made the token objective post, ridiculed sunilz, and GIMH is asleep, holy **** England are so lucky.

Ball hitting Stokes bat and going for overthrows??? Stokes getting out but one of the best fielders in the business steps on the rope?? Boundary count?? Escaping prison time?? Opposition’s best bowler gets injured?

Also lost group game here to Ireland and only got through because of rain saving them from a thrashing at the hands of Aussies

IIRC they lost 3 group games in the 2019 World Cup as well, and rain might have saved them then as well

They were very lucky to even get through to the semis in both tournaments tbh

There are a lot of 'sour grapes' posts in this thread.

Talk of luck is focusing on small aspects of the game.

Two quotes regarding luck in sport are worth remembering:

"You make your own luck."

"The harder I work/practise the luckier I get."

As for the regular knockers of Stokes regarding an episode in the past - the case was dealt by the courts and to consistently drag up the past is tiresome and irrelevant to cricket.

If the saying "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" is accurate then we have a lot of saints on CW.

May well have beaten Ireland but for the rain. As for the Aussies, their white ball record in recent times would suggest otherwise.

Lol. I expect England would've thrashed Australia. The rain helped Australia.

Had one of Williamson (40 off 40), Neesham (6 off 3), or Mitchell (3 off 5) succeeded with the bat, England would've been knocked out, but T20 is random.

Nonetheless, England were the best team in the tournament and deserved their win.

I think the saying in regards to stokes is harder I punch luckier I get

Whatever it takes!!!
England deserved to win the trophy. They have brought about a generational shift in how LO cricket is played. They were the better team over the tournament and won a well deserved final.

Luck with toss is always a thing but to attribute trophy wins to that is just silly.

L&L brother I think on closer inspection you'll find that everyone in this thread, except possibly the OP, is not being entirely serious
