Is a month of rain normal for Melbourne at this time of year or have they just been unlucky with the scheduling?
Bit of both. It's the rainiest time of the year in SE Aus but it's not like we have a monsoon season or anything - it has been atypical for sure.

It was scheduled when it was so it didn't interfere too much with Australia's Test summer.

Yeah squeezed in between the end of footy season and the test schedule

our weather patterns seem to have gone to **** the past few years though. Can’t recall so much rain for so long here before. When some towns are severely flooding two or three times in the one year it’s beyond a joke.

of course, Melbourne being under water would be a massive improvement overall

Can someone please let us know whether it’s raining in Geelong and then provide the obligatory NZ traffic CCTV footage we all crave on these big occasions?

Always good to see you admit that Lauren Southern was right.
“You know that old tale in the bible when Abraham is talking to god about Sodom and Gomorrah … He’s like begging with god and says ‘god, if I can find ten good people in Sodom and Gomorrah, please, do not nuke Melbourne.”

“We did find a few hundred good ones there — there is a silent majority I believe in Melbourne so we can’t nuke it yet guys I’m sorry.”

Wow

Kim Novak said it better, and first
Wht did she said?

Apologies, it was Ava Gardner. She came to Melbourne to film the classic 1959 post-apocalyptic movie On The Beach about Australia being the last surviving place on earth following a nuclear holocaust and is reported to have said it was "the perfect place to make a movie about the end of the world."

It's an apocryphal story. The quote was fabricated by Sydney Morning Herald journalist Neil Jillett for a satirical piece

That's not quite correct. Jillett was quoting Ava Gardner in his story, who was in turn recounting what Kim Novak told her.

Late 80s I'm working in a stationary shop and a guy walks in wanting a big pile of photocopies made. Normally, he'd **** off and I'd copy them and he'd collect them later, but I ****ed up and asked what the photo's were of. Turns out he was an extra in 'on the Beach' so he takes it as his cur to stay and tell me all about it for the next hour, as if I gave a ****. I've never seen it, but I HATE that movie.

All that **** is moving in a south east direction......it's not out of the question that it could slide past Melbourne or they just catch the edge of it .

Just heard Glenn Maxwell has broken his leg at a friends 50th in a ''freak accident.'' He'll be out for at least 3 months.
Sean Abbott has been called up as cover for coming WI ODI series.
