Why can't Pakistan produce prolific fast bowlers anymore?

The last Pakistan fast bowler to take 200 Test wickets or more was Waqar Younis when he crossed 200 Test Wickets in 1995 .

Twenty seven years later no Pakistani seamer has taken 200 test wickets or more since despite an abundance of talented fast bowlers at their disposal ..What's causing this ?

Our three best talents in last 25 years Shoaib, Asif, Amir all ended up having stop start careers mainly due to their own faults. In an ideal world all three should have had a 300 test wickets career.

From the current crop I like Shaheen, Naseem they are not as talented as the above three blokes but hopefully they will have a more complete injury and controversy free career.

Afridi has 99 wickets and he seems like a dependable and stable guy, so i'm sure in a couple of years he will be become the first Pakistani bowler since Waqar to take 200 wickets.

From what I have observed (outsider perspective) , Pakistan cricket culture has been destroyed by factionalism and politics.
I mean every ex-cricketer has opened his YouTube channel and has opinion on everything under the sun and keep second guessing the captain in every match. This wouldn't do the players morale any good . They need a stable captain for atleast 5 to 6 years who can instill proper work ethic and confidence in the remaining team members.

If you get criticised after every poor performance, you will stop giving your best beyond a point ( My 2 cents observation).

How many fast bowlers around the world have crossed 200 wickets since 1995? Can't be too many

I don't like how PCB is managing Afridi , did they really have to field him for this World Cup and he is playing almost every match .. currently I notice he's down on pace hopefully he can recover

IMO, PCB is just decades behind the rest of the world in terms of injury prevention and rehab. The number of guys who took 50 wickets at under 25 but then disappeared off the face of the earth must be a dozen or so.

Junaid Khan is another big miss. Could've been anything IMO. He had all the right attributes but fizzled out like the rest.

I agree what about Mohammad Sami man this lad could bowl thunderbolts but lacked guidance ..

yeah as pointed out a combination of personal demons and abysmal workload and rehab management has led to Pakistani's bowlers never being one for the long cricket scene. Their current bowling attack looks good though and if managed adequately should get beyond 200 wickets easily. Ramiz seems like a more competent administrator than the older ones too

Years of playing in the UAE on pitches made for Yasir Shah.

Yep uae a factor. Amir asif and shoab all should have. Shaheen will and is better than all 3. They have produced them just the players haven't done themselves justice

Kemar Roach 252 wickets in 73 matches @26.83 is quite impressive. Never rated him but seems better than Starc who i rate highly.

It is just due to turn of events. Amir, Asif, Abbas and Akhtar would have surely crossed 200 if not for fixing matches/not fixing their bodies. And then the UAE pitches being so favorable to spinners. Think Pakistan played fewer tests as well compared to others till recently.

Now that Pakistan is slowly opening up to host more matches in the country, we can start to see the pacers shine as well. Shaheen and Naseem have great potential.
