At the game, don't know why England left it so long to try accelerating. That last over before the stop suggested they were still favourites imo.

Odd game in that Ireland achieved the upset while still ****ing up quite a lot at the end of their batting and by dropping several catches and bowling a heap of wides.

Looks like the rain may clear reasonably soon.

I think England was winning comfortably had the match continued but still well done to Irish.

Are they leading England in World cup encounters?

Yeah England 80:20 to close that out I think.

How bad is the Australian weather atm? Is there a risk of a lot of rain affected matches?
This is the wettest year on record in a lot of the east.

I said the rain would cause chaos in this tournament but I thought it'd be through straight washouts, this is no less chaotic but much more fun.

Tbf, the Irish have been pretty shambolic as well. They pissed 170+ up the wall, looked a 50:50 chance to drop even basic chances and bowled a shocking number of wides (10 in 14 overs). Really quite remarkable that they managed to hang in for long enough to get the W.
Hard to argue with any of that.

They looked very comfortable at 103/1 & 132/3 before it went to shyte in the 16th over though and, until Mo got his eye in before the rains came, they looked comfortable defending despite the bollock-handed fielding too.

Heh love the little smirk that's never far from Reiffel's face when the pommes get smashed by one of the 'lesser' teams.

No, England could beat us. :D

Am worried about getting games rained out.
If NZ only lose to England they will make the semis though. It would take an unbelievably unlikely shift in Net Run Rates otherwise

edit: wait I didn't take into account washouts. If this game is washed out completely that would change things

Rain seemed to be easing a little from those last pictures, so assuming the MCG is still a top draining ground we might get something happening.
