Well that was a whole lot of unexpected fun.

Allen deserves a massive amount of credit for this. NZ had the 3-0 ODI series loss in Australia earlier in the summer where they were rightly criticised as meek, scared and unwilling to fire a shot. Allen single-handedly changed that - made Australia scared, just for once. I momentarily thought of the alternative top-3 with Guptill in his spot and we're 8/0 after 3 overs here, and then stopped because it's awful. Allen could absolutely have failed with that approach, but he used all the powers of #intent and today it succeeded.

And then Conway picked up the baton and reminded us it's always Conway's Game of Cricket in the end. WAG.

Not in the sense there was at least a bit of a total then, something to bowl to at the start of the second dig, albeit below par. Never in the game here at all from the get go.

imagine defending the title, playing at home and you dish that up for your supporters first up. It’s a disgrace to the nation, putting in a performance like that. They don’t deserve to live.
