*Official* English Football Season 2022/23

You get two celebrations though.
well ours were a goal that was immediately flagged so we barely even cheered, then VAR gave it. That was great.

Then 3-2 down ref gave us a corner but VAR turned it into a pen.

Personally, granted I don’t watch loads of top flight etc, but I don’t really think it’s improved the game. Have said it loads but goal line tech was all that was needed IMHO

I have got to say the worst thing about VAR for me has been these constant convos about VAR, which have remained the same.

Celebrating a goal is literally the greatest feeling in sport, it’s what makes football the king, and this nonsense ruins it.
I agree with this generally and think it would be worth getting rid of VAR purely because of that. It's a cathartic, euphoric thing and it's better when it's untempered.

Not as good as one proper one though. Was at the Everton game last week and our equaliser was one of those. The confirmation just feels more like relief than anything else for me.

Opposition goals being ruled out is really fun though I have to admit.

The VAR check to confirm the goal doesn't change the moment Lundstram put us 3-1 up against RB Leipzig. It's the greatest moment I've had at the ground as a fan.

Jokes aside, I thought Saka had a great game and was a real force on the right. Martinelli - Jesus - Saka is a nice front 3 with Odegaard playing behind them pulling the strings. The other areas are a worry.

I thought both teams looked good in different ways. One of the highest quality Utd vs Arsenal games in a while.

I’ve been impressed with Ten Hag’s in-game subs and tactical shifts. Acts early to make sure we’re fresh up top and can keep countering for the full game. Arteta kinda botched his.

Amusingly the funniest/grimest moment for Utd was when Cassimiro and Maguire came on and combined hilariously for the Maguire yellow card.

It's a nice win for United even though Arsenal for so long were the superior side.

Rashford scoring a few is massive, not many lads you'd bet scoring many and Martial gets injured brushing his teeth.

I thought the result was deserved given how many big chances Arsenal gave up, but even just based on that one game you'd definitely back Arsenal to pick up more points over the course of the season. De Gea's distribution continues to be a fundamental problem.

I didn’t think Eriksen would work in the Prem in a deep role but he is proving to be a really good pickup. He is a way better footballer than I had realized.

@Burgey ya boy is taking on Real Madrid soon.

Celtic becoming a hipster sensation would be a bit awkward but they’re playing some seriously nice football lately.
