New Zealand A tour of India (A) – September 2022

Socerer 01

International Captain
Will follow just for Sarfraz Khan his FC stats make him look the next coming of Bradman surprising that he is not an IPL superstar already
he is too one dimensional to succeed in IpL. Hasn’t been helped by no side consistently backing him either since his renaissance to be fair

Apex Predator

State Vice-Captain
Briiliant Ton by Rajat Patidar... Excellent Ranji Trophy followed by this. Sarfraz missed out & gone scoring 36.
Patidar 128 not out.... Trailing by just 7 now India

Whatever it takes!!!
Tilak is a very interesting and exciting prospect. Talented Leftie middle order bat who can bowl decently at all levels and in all formats. Exciting.

Why no Fisher?

Pleased Duffy's picked up two wickets to match LVB - Duffy at least has *some* possibility of contributing for NZ in test cricket in the next few years.

Fisher's already had an action reconfiguration I think, and is one of those guys that New Zealand would've converted into incredibly special cargo anyway because of 140-144 pace. George Worker found him a bit easy to climb into in one T20 we saw, although Fisher did get his wicket in the end. First ODI of this tour is on the 22nd.

Haha me too. I’m no raving fan of Duffy but I can’t shake this feeling we’ll see 32 year old Van Beek plying for New Zealand at some point this summer. Stead will find a way

Umran Malik vs. Ravindra on this NZ-style pitch could provide some good insight into whether RR's very much of the Blundell type and a big fan of the speedy ball hitting his bat as quick as the indoor carpet and machines he was raised on.

In the second ‘Test’ at the KSCA Stadium here, batting certainly wasn’t easy against a fine New Zealand-A seam attack on a responsive track and in overcast conditions. The scoreboard -- 68 for four -- is a testimony.

Panchal, however, played from the front to bail his team out of a tough position before being dismissed for 87.

“Obviously I am disappointed but as a team, we are in a decent position now,” Panchal said after the rain-affected second day's play.

The Gujarat opener said it was a challenging wicket, but was prepared for it.

“As an opener, I have to play on fresh wickets like this against the new ball,” he said.

“New Zealand-A bowled well. They were bowling in partnerships. Having played against them, I knew they were going to bowl a lot of short balls and that they were going to use their two short balls in an over.”

The skipper said the India-A series were really helpful for cricketers like him. “We have international players in our team and these India-A matches will help all of us,” he said. “Such tours are very important.”

Aha, Rob Walter is coaching this. Bowes no longer such a surprise to me in that top-order last week.

I probably wouldn't look for the rebellious Bobby Briggs mood of the Devcich era too much anymore in NZA, if Walter's going to coach that team more often. You'd want to be the Major Garland Briggs type of player now (very low in vulgarity and very high in compliance, often SA-born, English-born or Asian-born).
