Madhevere should probably open at full strength imo.

Problem is that the best three bats are all on the verge of retirement.
Yeah agreed on both points. Innocent has some potential. So, if he can be groomed, Innocent and Madhevere can open together once Ervine retires. Will be very tough to find replacements for Williams and Raza though. The team is yet to replace Taylor in front of the stumps.

What would Tak Kaitano do if he was here right now?
He'd make a plan and he'd follow through - that's what Tak Kaitano do.

What would Tak Kaitano do if he were here today?
I'm sure he'd hit a four or two - that's what Tak Kaitano do.
This.

Batting stats for Aus in odi's since the end of the england tour in 2020.

Think this pretty well highlights the batting issues we've been able to partially ignore because of consistent series wins. Middle order bar maxwell has been pretty dissapointing bar maxwell, carey our best batsmen and even then he's averaging 32, with green at 31, more due to NO'S at 8 then actual innings.

Finch is a massive concern, i'm a huge fan of him, but we can't afford to haul him around to another WC when he looks as shot as he does now. Stoinis and marsh have both been poor (TBF to marsh he's been injured, alot). The fact that we're wasting heads current form like we our is pretty mind boggling, tbh.

Team should really be
1.Head
2.Warner
3.Smith
4.Green
5.Carey/Inglis (carey on a tight leash).
6.Marsh
7.Maxwell

Head would be a handy spin option for the WC as well.

It's not all so bad, the 2 best batsman are both averaging well over 50.

Your completely right, just more of a concern that one of our openers and our 4/8 bar maxwell are severely underperforming. India at the last WC shows what happens when you overrely on the top 3 and don't have a middle order. Similiar thing happened to us at he same WC in the semi's aswell, now that I think about it.

Been saying this for over a year now, but Finch just has to go. Simple as that. He's ruining his legacy.

Check out facebook comments (yeah I know) almost everyone is saying the same thing. If this goes on much longer he's going to go down as being genuinely hated by Aus cricket fans.

For me the basis of the ODI team should be this:

Warner
???????
Smith
Green
Maxwell
????????
Carey
Agar/Cummins
Starc
Zampa
Hazlewood

with those 2 spots to figure out which among Marsh, Head, Labuschagne and Wade should fill them
