Brilliant from southee, awesome performance but this does not mean he gets a 6 year run in odi's now GARY, DAVID, GAVIN.
New Zealand fan through and through but fav player for me tonight is alzarri...does everything most people get excited for in cricket...big shots, fast bowling.

Look, I obviously absolutely love the guy but I’m starting to get a little bit over the whole Kane Williamson always injured thing. What’s going on here, is he just insanely injury prone, not putting in the fitness work etc.
You can already start to see some of the cricketing public here in NZ starting to turn on him in regards to always being fit for the IPL but consistently missing test matches and limited overs games for NZ.
He really isn’t needed in the 20/20 team, just drop him from that allow him to rest up for everything else. His body is obviously not ageing as well as it should be

King was crap when he opened and Carty sucks. If you want Blackwood in there then a direct swap makes more sense IMO.

It would be nice it Hety stopped messing around and took his place in the side as he's a match winner on his day. It's easy to forget he already has 5 ODI centuries.
If we're to be competitive we simply have to have more players available.

I don't think the team can really justify having Pooran come in so low either. I know you can't very well have Brooks come in at 6 if he plays so these sort of blokes end up occupying the top order slots, but #5 should be the absolute lowest he bats IMO - ideally 4.
Cariah's barely played any List A cricket and he seems to have played most of it as a bowler even though he's a frontline batsman in First Class stuff but I think yesterday's innings might've bought him a run in the top 6 too, at least until Hetmyer is available. I think it probably makes more sense than having Carty or Blackwood play, anyway.
Same could be said for Evin Lewis.
Seems to be a host of fitness issues for the West Indies, even in the domestic game, too many players not looking after themselves i.e. J. Foo, O. Thomas, C. Hemraj, S. Rutherford, K. Lewis.

Actually nah, all aboard the Finn Express. You just have to know that this means you're all in - you have to back him for all three formats, even when logic suggests he's not a long form batsman's backside, even when his form doesn't merit any support at all (it'll come) etc. Attack anyone personally that comes for him - even if it's reasoned - and cherry-pick the stats and viewpoints that allow us to build a case at all costs. If you can do that, you're in.

Is it tennis elbow again? If so, it's one of those chronic ailments like shin splints or patella tendonitis that just takes a long time to go away. The idea of not playing him in T20I makes a great deal of sense tbh.

The way Allen took on the short ball (I just watched the highlights) was encouraging for those hoping to see him become test player one day which should be the goal given his talent.
Williamson's injury issues are becoming a bit like Crowe at the same age. These guys train so hard, there must be a degree of wear and tear after a decade at the top level.
It should absolutely be the goal. And he's an educated fella, brought through an outstanding school, he'll want to prove himself in the biggest proving ground there is. I say that with some jest, but I truly believe he will want to be a Test player.
As for Kane, I just don't know. I don't doubt for a second he doesn't do the work, the training, the yoga, the rehab etc. And yeah, if we could keep him away from the IPL that might be advantageous, but that's not the reason he misses one or two games a series with an elbow, a leg, COVID, on and on. Some people just have a body that doesn't want to match up to the rigours you put it through, and Kane's seems to be it. I wouldn't be surprised if he's mentally wearied after COVID, the captaincy, all the cricket he plays etc and we probably all know that when you're mentally shot, the body is more willing to pack it in as well. Martin Crowe was that to a tee - his book title (Tortured Genius) accurately summed it up.
