That hasn't immeasurably changed in the time Trent has been an NZ cricketer. And he's a very intelligent guy, he'd know the financial workings of NZC. It makes no sense to me that there is anything happening now in terms of revenue share split that would drive him out of the game, because (my opinion, and based on what he's said in the media) it's all to do with his family and being able to pick and choose where he plays.I don’t think most of you lot realise how money is actually made and split amongst most sporting organisations/leagues ?
Depressing.Lifted from the NZ Cricket fan forum, "up and coming" pace bowlers in NZ:
"Ben Sears, Nathan Smith, Simon Keene, Joey Field, Jacob Duffy, Kristian Clarke, Michael Rae, Will O'Rourke, Henry Shipley, Zak Foulkes, Josh Clarkson, Brett Randell, Blair Tickner, Matt Fisher, Zak Gibson, Jarrod McKay
The only lefties on the domestic scene are Ben Lister, Ed Nuttall and Andrew Hazeldine."
Yeah. The amounts we are talking - Women's contracts impact any future liklihood of Plunket Shield reverting back to 10 rounds on the near horizon. Until it gets to the point of being cost neutral or profitable (or NZC get boosted income from elsewhere, e.g. ICC TV cycles)Can it not simultaneously be true that NZC doesn't have as much money as overseas T20 leagues, that anyone who rage quits because women are getting money can GTFO, but that our contract offers to top male players might in some cases be sub-optimal (on in future turn out to be sub-optimal) because of debatable allocation of funds that is at least worthy of discussion?
Yes I realise this is an entirely hypothetical and pointless "both sides are fine people" centrist dickhead post.
If you give it too a young bloke, then they'll just get rich early, get burnt-out early, retire early. Like Boult.Interestingly will they give the contract back to Jimmy or will they pick another 30+ or near 30 year old player to give the contract to. If NZC is serious they should look at getting Sears, Allen or Ravindra into the contract list. These guys have lots of years to offer. I think they will give it to yet another oldish bloke that will likely last for one or two years in the international circuit max.
Let's not pretend this was ever going to happen, or that the primary reason was "cost saving".Yeah. I'm going to pretend it was going to happen. Otherwise can never hold them to account when they don't do it.Let's not pretend this was ever going to happen, or that the primary reason was "cost saving".
NZC's goal is profit maxing, and that means NZ being a specialist T20 side with token efforts in ODIs and tests.
his career earnings must be around the NZ$5M mark to date, so his family have to be pretty well set up unless he spent it all on dogecoin.
Wow. Imagine that. But of course, certain former posters critique of his diet using racial tropes was perfectly fine. :rolleyes:Stuff

Men in their mid-thirties behaving like high schoolers. Good to get some names for the rumoured Mean Girls clique. Bit of a shame since I was a big fan of both players named.
It seems to happen in every sports team, even very successful ones. Hard to think of a single team that didn't have cliques.Men in their mid-thirties behaving like high schoolers. Good to get some names for the rumoured Mean Girls clique. Bit of a shame since I was a big fan of both players named.
