It has been ten overs since Hope has hit a boundary. Been just binary figures from him since then. I get that all the stability he brings is supposed to matter but he still bats like a 90s batsman when the rest of the world has moved on from this

I think it’s a clear team strategy for him to just bat through without taking risks.

He should be playing more aggressively after the 40th though surely.

Makes sense when you’re surrounded by Hetmyer, Gayle, Lewis, the explosive Pooran, Pollard and Russell.

Not so much with the current players in the side.

Seeing as he's so stable and solid and steady, and actually a touch slow, it's a wonder he ended up complete crap in tests. One of the most disappointing let downs I can ever remember.

Because he actually isn’t good on pitches that offer good assistance to bowlers. Most of his centuries for instance have been on flat decks.
