We added around 100 and lost 6 wickets today. You'd call that England's day so far. That when we played 8 batters.

Credit to Leech for his sticktoitiveness, but must be one of the spawnier 5-fors of late; one deflection off the non-striker's bat and three holes out in the deep.

He probably won't bowl til day 3.
I think Kane will bring him on early unless Southee, Boult and Wagner are running through England lineup.

This could be Wagner's last test if England get struck into him. If he can turn it around that'll be a great comeback. If he doesn't have a good test likely that'll be it for the great man. Can't see him touring Pakistan.

So Wagner is only allowed one bad game and others are allowed a lot more?

Hmm

edit - so hang on, we've gone in with 3 bowlers (which is sacking worthy) and we're not confident one of them is still any good?

This organisation I swear lol.

It's pretty much modern cricket isn't it, spinners get smashed by mishits from big bats going for boundaries, occasionally you pick up a few.

Tossing it up and getting the attacking batter or the tail-ender to hit out is a legitimate approach to get wickets so wouldn't automatically discount those - conscious decision by Stokes/Leach to challenge the batsmen to take chances and it worked. Preferable to some of the crap tactics sometimes employed by fast bowlers against the tail too i.e. bowling all sorts of lengths instead of hitting the wickets.

Think Stokes has given Leach the license to tempt the batsmen and they're very happy it's paid off.
