I mean averaging nearly 17 as a number 11 is proof enough. Never been done for a sustained period. He bats in the top order when he plays club cricket. He can hit it pretty well.
You’d be thinking 300 means they can afford to keep the field up even if England knock a few off quickish, whereas 260 odd means the margin of error is lessThere's no way England can chase it you'd think. I just don't want our guys to bat another 15 overs and it ends in a tame draw.
You reckon England of all sides will chase nearly 300 in just over two sessions?I still think we’ll lose but the fact we seem to be at least semi playing for the draw fills me with joy
Have you been watching this wicket and outfield. Get any bat on anything and it's four. If Root bats as he has the last two innings, I think England will walk this....You reckon England of all sides will chase nearly 300 in just over two sessions?
like if test cricket was that easy sides would pile on 400 per day all the time mate
Either they will (McCullum ball) or they’ll lose their nerve and play out the draw. Either option vastly more likely than us rolling them on a featherbed. You reckon England of all sides will chase nearly 300 in just over two sessions?
Have followed his entire domestic career. Never thought he'd make the test team let alone he'd be this dominant. Always knew has a chance at white ball cricket but he was pretty much competing with the likes of Jimmy, Corey, CDG.Darryl Mitchell is turning out to be real gun his FC record is decent nothing out of this world looked ok when he came in but suddenly this series he looks among the very best in world cricket at the moment .
Purple patch or genuinely moved to next level?
/happened in the last testEither they will (McCullum ball) or they’ll lose their nerve and play out the draw. Either option vastly more likely than us rolling them on a featherbed.
But really this is about us being in a dark place generally, finding ways to lose, and having a terrible history of batting like **** in the 3rd innings and then letting the opposition chase down a challenging total in the 4th. Losing in this exact scenario is an NZ trope.
You can’t afford to give them a sniff when you’re 1-0 down already though. They’ve got a pretty inexperienced line up for the most part. Bat them out of it, set attacking fields, bowl decent areas and be a bit patient. If we don't declare when we get to 300 lead and force England to draw I'm going to sleep. Not worth watching England bat out a draw. The pitch is good enough to block all day I think. Only way to get wickets is if they attack.
