I like what I see with Potts, it’s not X-factor stuff admittedly but he runs in, hits the deck hard and the seam and has fitness and stamina to do so all day (as a rule!), hopefully that can translate into the further demands of Test cricket.

Not exactly sure how’s he best utilised with Durham? He seems to be a bowler that can bowl long spells rather than an impact bowler that’s best served in short spells. This is not based on much evidence mind.
He’s not been utilised as well as he should have at Durham till this season. Franklin inexplicably hasn’t played him for large periods, when not injured. Played more championship games in 2017 as an 18 year old than last season.

So hard to say what he is best at, as this has been an exponential rise from him. For a talented young player in the fits and starts he was given usually as second or even third change. He’s done both this season. Pretty much been a one man bowling attack getting life out of flat wickets opening the bowling. His 6fer against notts was a big slog, but then ran through Glamorgan when a bit easier.

Which I think bodes well for him as test cricketer, as not a normal county season. Otherwise Rushy would be our leading wicket taker.

Great timing for him to mature so fast with the new England captain in the slips.Durhams championship season is now over which is a shame.

KP talking up trigger movements and how Lees doesn't have one. Are these something that have become more popular with modern batting?

I think the feeling is that standing there means you don't always get into position properly whereas trigger movements 'get your feet going' as such and is considered better... under the very important caveat that when the ball gets to you, your head is in line and you are no longer moving.

I was about to post something about it not being an ideal start, but I'll take that.

For some reason I'm very invested in the idea of getting a first innings lead. Which would be hilarious after making 132
