County Cricket 2022

58 and 101* from pope so far this season. I don't understand how he just can't seem to crack test cricket, never seen a player stutter on the jump up so much. Showed he has the POTENTIAL to do well in test's in that 2019 SA series aswell. Utterly perplexing.

@TheJediBrah can shed some light on why this happens

I'm interested if any spinners can break through this season, and maybe someone like Zafar Gohar from Pakistan could find his feet. The usual medium pace seamers gets a bit boring.
Liam Patterson-White had a good game last time round. Good FC record too. Being half-decent with the bat will help him.

I think that's the worst thing about England's dreadful run with the bat. Some of the guys they've selected clearly have a ceiling to their talent. But Pope is, in theory, good enough to be world-class. And I thought that SA series would be the start of a superb Test career, but he fell away really, really dramatically. He needs a whole season in the CC, and ideally, scoring runs away from the Oval.

I mean he had a whole season in the cc last year, averaged 80, came back and made a great 80 vs India 1st innings back then just completely ****ed off.

Don't know if county is what he needs. Maybe he needs a move from Surrey so he doesn't get to play at the oval as much.

Well at Least Somerset have decided not to do the false hope this year.

Bedingham has to be looked at for England doesn't he averages over 50 ATM. Despite the weakness of the county Championship, there aren't too many that do that.

I would really hope England don't select Bedingham. He came to play in England at 25, seems pretty cynical to me.

It's a promising start statistically but having seen him bowl, he is ab it of a left arm medium pacer rather than somewhere who actually turns the ball. Maybe I'm wrong but England need a genuine spinner.

Asking thejedibrah any view on English cricket is a bit lie asking my views on the city of Plymouth, highly unlikely to be balanced or of much worth.

Truth can hurt but also be liberating. Acceptance of the (sizeable) shortcomings of English cricket (which is near death) is the first step to an unlikely but technically possible recovery

Lively start at Taunton, with Essex at one stage 4 for 4 chasing 83. Now 17 for 4, with lots of balls flying past the edge. The live stream is on youtube if anyone's interested.
