County Cricket 2022

Great start to the season with the bat for Essex. Three centurions in the first dig of the season. Probably amount as many tons as in the whole of last season!

Doesn't bode well for Essex without Harmer, but too early to draw any conclusions. Kent clearly struggled to take wickets - an unusually flat wicket for this time of year though.

Critchley showing great value already though. Thought he was a decent looking prospect before he signed for Essex (picked him in Kippax's County Draft last year)

Seeing pictures of Pujara and Rizwan in partnership but don't see any Sussex game going on. What's up with that?

Ali Cook and Rory Burns bowling in round 1 - revenge of the groundsman.

Plenty of good cricket played though. Leicestershire last pair (numbers 1(Azad) and 11(Hendricks)) holding out 25.4 overs to draw the game against Worcestershire.
Glos and Northants had a compelling last day with all results possible ending in a draw.
Hampshire off to a strong start after crushing Somerset.

Z.B. Lion-Cachet turning out for Sussex 2s today. First name appears to be Zach.

Good to see Aneurin Donald finally returning from injury. Scored a ton for Hampshire 2s yesterday.

And Ben Compton on debut
I might be wrong but I think, like Nick, he is eligible for Zimbabwe. As is the standout player from this round, Ryan Higgins - who confusingly is not the Ryan Higgins who actually did play a few games for Zim in 2005-06.

I'm interested if any spinners can break through this season, and maybe someone like Zafar Gohar from Pakistan could find his feet. The usual medium pace seamers gets a bit boring.
