For your interest and consideration ....an evaluation of Jura and the Buy-ins coaching team! (How do you compare?)

For the purpose of simple analysis I use the following criteria:
Pulled and retired without playing a match (or just 1) -FAIL
Sold from your affiliate for $1k to your main team and then retired - FAIL
Sold to a 3rd party for $1k without playing a match - FAIL (he hasn't made back his wage!)
Sold to a 3rd party for more than $1k - SUCCESS (but in this case, all animals are equal but some are more equal than others!!)
Played for your team more than 1 time - SUCCESS

Jura - Youth Pulls 65 (100%) - Headline Success Rate - 17%
Retired - (0-1 match) 51 (FAIL -78%)
Sold - ($1k) 3 (FAIL - 5%)
Sold - (more than $1k) 3 (SUCCESS - 5%) [ Sales for 2k, 13k and 315k =$330k - Average of $110k per sale)
Playing - (1+ match) 8 (SUCCESS -12%) [ 8 Players have so far played 474 matches, all still playing- Highest 108, Avg. 59]

Buy Ins - Youth Pulls 26 (100%) - Headline Success Rate - 16%
Retired - (0-1 match) 22 (FAIL - 85%)
Sold - (more than $1k) 2 (SUCCESS - 7%) [ Sales for 5 and 10k =$15k - Average of $7k per sale)
Playing - (1+ match) 2 (SUCCESS - 7%) [ 2 Players have so far played 32 matches, both still playing- Highest 21, Avg. 16]

Clearly Headline Success Rate is based on a very simplified definition. Jura's Sales success has generated far more absolute income and a better average revenue per sale than the Buy-ins. The players have also played more matches (but of course this is also because Jura have existed for 2 and a half times longer than the Buy-Ins, so they have had the opportunity to do so. There's lots of If's and Buts, but I hope it provides some interest and a yardstick for you to compare your own coaching team if you like that sort of thing! I guess more analysis could be done into the performances of your youth pulls and how many matches they have played per week since being pulled to give more insight into the 'scale' or 'relativity' of their success....many other ideas I'm sure!

Anyhow ......my simple analysis shows me that I can only hope for a pull you might keep or sell for any sort of a profit once every 6 weeks!

That seems right - also from another perspective: your players have six seasons to play DEV cricket, and ideally you want 12-13 players in your youth system (a DEV 11 plus one or two players that are already ready to contribute to seniors) that means you will have a little more than 2 competent players every 15-week season, which works out to once every 6-7 weeks.

I had not thought of it like that - that seems a great way of visualising it (wood through the trees!) - if you can pull two good players a season who would actually go on to train up to be senior as well - you'd be happy wouldn't you ? You'd need to buy a 3rd player each season to keep a squad of 18 running ....and on that tight scenario , the money to buy in those players if they have not come from selling any pulls would have to be from your profits from weekly revenues less costs.

On that basis I would like my headline rate to be about 21% not 17%. That way 14% would = 2 players pulled a season and 7% would be 1 players sold a season to help out with the finances (though clearly a sale of 2k isn't going to cut the mustard or butter any parsnips!- it would need to be a nice fat sale and they are very rare - of my 5 sales so far only 1 was for more than 15k. I guess you could starting selling more of your pulls rather than keeping them but that would just be robbing Peter to pay Paul, you''d still then be left with the need to fill youth spaces instead with more purchasing

Enough head scratching!!

I was looking back on some of my transfer sales ....

Murali Sattar

DateEventType
2021-04-14Moved from Jura CC to The Green Dragon CC for $210000transfer
2021-02-24made T20 debut for Jura CC against Werribee Tigersmilestone
2021-02-22made DEV debut for Jura CC against Wet Wolverinesmilestone
2021-02-19made SOD debut for Jura CC against Jamies Jaguarsmilestone
2021-02-18Moved from Kalinga Knights to Jura CC for $4000transfer
2020-12-02Recruited by scouts of Kalinga Knightstransfers

What is strange about Sattar is that the Green Dragon have barely played him ...and even stranger is that they have a squad of 55 players - I thought maybe the manager is inactive - but they logged in yesterday and are far higher ranked than my humble teams!

55 players though - why would you do that?

13 of them are seniors and 42 are youth - so apart from an unnecessary wage burden (and assuming most of them don't play in senior matches as they have a senior squad ) about 30 of them wont be getting any IGT or coaching?

I'm imagining a chap who in real life is a hoarder and is hemmed into his semi detached home only able to reach the pc to play Stumped through a rabbit warren of old newspapers? Looking at the transfer activity the buying just went on and on until May last year and since then he has managed to stop the buying but has only managed to release 8 sales (for 13k!)

Who's going to ask him......maybe someone knows this manager ?

Got 13 players across my 2 teams on the Transfer Market right now in case anyone is interested. Most of them with at least decent potential if not better. Highlights include Bernie Tennant - a 35 current/44 pot seamer, Damian Hutchinson at 19 had a lot of his DEV years past him already but has good potential - 11/23 current bat/bowl but 42/44 potential bat/bowl if you want a project.

Mangal Neelam a 15 current, 44 potential 16 year old seamer, Bhupendra Niki a 19/11 current batting/bowling allrounder with 39/41 potential batting/bowling. Shamiso Luqe at 19 a spin-bowling allrounder with 26/27 batting/bowling currently and 36/44 potential batting/bowling.

Wasn't going to initially but given I've done the write up I might as well speculatively post this in the Stumped Forum too.

EDIT - For anyone who wants full list of 13 players the Stumped link is here - https://www.stumpedgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=6177

Great stuff JoJo - sample size of the two of us aint much to go on but it is very similar across the 4 teams so far!

Hot off the press financial news! With with the finance week now closed/begun and 6 home games on the trot coming up Jura has taken the plunge and built 2,000 extra seats in a nano-second !

My calculations are (disregarding the sunk/fixed cost of the build) you need to be putting 200 bums onto seats of every extra 1,000 seats built to break even on the additional variable cost each week (averaging home/away matches). Obviously in the end you need to cover off the fixed costs as well -but I will be keeping my fingers crossed I haven't jumped too soon and these next matches are bringing in at least 10,500 hardy Scottish souls to watch us challenge for promotion/battle relegation in the various formats of the back end of Season 30

Such a shame we don't get paid any gate money for all our coaching/management/ sweat and tears in CWC ! I feel that Stumped mngt could reward our efforts to foster interest and communication in the community by just a fee of $100 a game (maximum 3 games / $300 a week) and/or a 0.1 improvement to touch for all those who play

It is, the person who bought him off you, let him go to me only a few weeks later! Had no idea he was a former Jura player

He's done ok for you hasn't he - you even squeezed some runs out of him with his abysmal 2/2 SS !!! He's got some decent bowling stats and still some room to improve in the next couple of years

Been a very nice bowler for me - primarily for Winton but has assisted the first phase of Charminster CC's existence - he represents a bit of an end of an era - only Rob Tweddle and Faisal Jawad really left from the old guard, Shamiso Luqe would have to be close to the one of our longest serving current players after that and he is on his way out

Indeed remarkably similar - especially considering Charminster CC is pretty new so an outlier can sway percentage quite a bit - hopefully at 15% that means I'm due a good youth pull at Charminster soon - although would prefer it at Winton - desperately need a good batting coach for Charminster soon

I see Sampath Ramalingam made his national debut for SL over the weekend. At 21, that's good going!

AXW vs FHK was on a minefield. We batted first and did surprisingly well. We made 128. Lester Shum, opening the bowling, capitalised on the conditions in taking 6-25. After reducing FHK to 17-3 and then 62-5, we thought we were a chance. But Tony Chung (who also dismissed the first 5 AX-W wickets) and Andy Li got them home with a bonus point to boot.

Currently, AXI are playing ZCC in a T20. It's a tough pitch, but we're playing well. Rusty did his thing with 38 (22) and Branning played a little cameo. After being four wickets down after 8 overs, it looked like we might collapse. But Simmonds and Murdoch hit a 50 partnership off just 32 balls, rotating the strike effectively. Murdoch and Chambers have now gone, so we're in need of some smart death play to bring the score to 170.
