Jesus christ get him out of slip, the old man doesn't know where he is
Smith's dropped a fair few easy chances at slip in recent memory and I can't really recall him taking any pearler's ALA the catch from the 1st test vs NZ in 2019, just faulty memory or are his reflexes/hand eye genuinly a bit off now?

I guess that makes up for the Azhar potential not out.

Seriously though, that isn't a great sign about Smith's hand-eye....

Should green move to first slip over smith now? Got a safe pair of hands and adapted to gully extremely well. Not sure if you want the injury prone all-rounder batting top order, bowling overs and keeping in an important position so early though.

I don't think Smith is batting badly but man alive has he been catching badly in the last six months.

Nah Green would be wasted at first with all that sheer mass and reach. Need a midget to go in there.
By this I mean the real midget Warner or alternatively a non/lesser midget Khawaja, who actually wouldn't be that bad imo.

Smith just needs to find his hands again.

Warner was absolutely phenomenal at first slip during the 3rd test of the last ashes in england tbf, not a bad idea at all.

Remember how some argued that Smith should be picked in ATG XIs for his slip catching?
I mean I don't think he's ever been like an ATG slipper or anything but he was always very reliable and very capable of the spectacular before the last six months.

Whatever it takes!!!

Look, we both know that was a stupid argument. Its not like Lara was not excellent at slip or Sachin ever put down anything in the slips.

Smith's been pulling off spectacular catches for ages. He did drop a few relatively easy ones in that time frame as well though.

I suspect it's just a mental/concentration thing. He's fidgety and fielding at slips means long periods of time doing ****all. Maybe he's thinking about batting while fielding.

Yeah I think it's a mental thing. You look at the way he snatched at that and fell over; that's entirely because he was taken by surprise.

Clarke used to do things like that too. Was weird.
Clarke was bizarre because he was so completely dominant to anything to his left; would swallow absolutely anything vaguely near him on that side, no matter how difficult. Then he'd drop sitters if they were on his right.
