Love how the Women Proteas have been able to close out some of these tight games. Some quality performers in that XI.
I feel they're missing some quality in the middle order. Luus and Kapp are alright but not excellent bats compared to players in some other teams plus I haven't seen anything special from du Preez and Brits at all. Wolvaardt has carried them a bit this tournament in my view. I like their pace attack quite a bit though.

du Preez and Lee are showing some terrible form but quality enough players to come good. But the team does miss Dane...

I would rather we win the close ones while struggling in groups, with the hope the team peaks during semis... unlike the mens team during WCs, hammering groups and falling over in knockout!

Unfortunately didn't watch the match live here (started at 1am) but look forward to catching up on the highlights/post-match debriefs. Sounds like a thriller! Sounds like more poor fielding from England contributed to their downfall

SA darkhorses imo. Kapp is a fabulous cricketer

Lee and Wolvaardt were in extraordinary form last year. Hopes do rest on them quite a bit. Talent wise they probably do lack one solid batter in middle order but they are making it up through application in the past year or so.

van Niekerk a big miss for them in more than one dept.

Time for big changes for England women including the coach.too many players living off reputation.Bowling attack now very weak Ecclestone accepted. If this was the men they would be getting pelters

You're absolutely spot on. Only Sciver and Ecclestone consistently keep their standards high and are world-class in either discipline. Beaumont and Knight are very good but quite often flatter to deceive.

This team definitely needs a reset

Beaumont, Knight and Sciver are a decent three of a top four, but all are in the 29-31 age bracket. Not sure they have another world cup but are good for a couple more years each, if they want it.

Winfield-Hill/Wyatt/Jones are 28-31 and have flattered to deceive too often. Might be time to move on.

Brunt is nearly 37, Cross and Shrubsole are both 30. I don't want to be harsh on someone who single-handedly won a WC final, but what are the fitness and conditioning coaches doing?

Basically, this side has got too old and stale and there are few young players blooded. What you'll get is a lot of senior pros leaving at once and younger players forced to sink or swim. At the very least, the likes of Bell and Wong need to come in and offer some youth and pace/height with the ball. Villiers and Glenn should get more opportunities. The batting does seem very light on options though. Is it too soon for Alice Capsey?

There will be massive changes in the England team in the summer.
Many look unfit, the fielding & catching is dreadful, looks like players are coasting and have been found out.
Not sure if Jones is a great keeper or not, misses the easy one , then takes a blinder.

I’m only going by what I’ve seen this tournament, but South Africa’s biggest weakness appears to be they have no spinners, and they are very ordinary against spin. England should have attacked with Ecclestone. The only time they were going for runs was behind the wicket with edges or byes.

They were dropped numerous times, but Wolvaardt is very easy on the eyes. Them and Sciver just look quality. Lee by contrast is as agricultural as Richard Levi. Though fun to watch and both games yesterday were exciting and aside from a few blowouts, it has been a good tournament. Bangladesh seemed overjoyed at the end. Great to see and it was a historic win for them.
