*Official* Australia in Pakistan 2022

Whatever it takes!!!
Isn't this also what England did last year in India and got absolutely slated for it?
Well, it's similar but not quite the same. England decided who will be rested when but IIRC Australia actually went with so and so will play in so and so ground coz this usually helps their style etc. And I mean c'mon, actual XIs selected ahead of a series with no regard to their form is just

How about just prepare the wickets how they would naturally come out without trying to give your team an advantage? Is that such a weird mentality?
What does this actually mean though? Pitches are not naturally occurring patches of dirt that stadiums are then built around.

I can get on board following a general tradition if the ground has history but it’s fine to switch it up once in a while.

If the pitch behaves very differently to what the home batsmen play on domestically then you have a point but I really don’t see that happening too much outside from less than a handful of crazy spinning wickets in BD and India. And even then you could argue that they play on those domestically from time to time.

Nah I specifically remember that they decided months in advance that they would structure their selection plans around Broad and Anderson being match-ready and selected for the day-night game. Which, you know, turned out to be a raging turner.

And Archer. But I think even that makes some semblance of sense, coz day night tests have been very different to typical normal test matches so far.

Right so there's a very real chance that Swepson could embarrass Pakistan here. Pakistan have only ever lost two tests at Karachi though. Here's hoping we get some reverse going.

There's a certain logic behind it but it definitely counts as an example of pre-picking your XI, or at least the most critical parts of your XI, months in advance, long before you have any clue of form or pitch conditions.

Pre-picking is alright to an extent I think but announcing it is an interesting tactic tstl

Seems like a good toss to win. Be interesting to see how we go on it, I'm not that optimistic after Rawlapindi....

Lots of talk about reverse before a single balls been bowled. Wonder if we'll see it.
