At least Cummins is being somewhat bright about this and bowling his part timers. Even Green not really getting a go which is smart.

would think Starc misses next test unless the deck has a bit in it and Swepson or Agar plays. Probably Agar. If Haze was gonna miss then might go the other way and pick the leggie

Time to spice up things, openers get their tons and then declare, Australia give Pakistan a scare by switching to T20 mode which is possible on this pitch and almost chase the target down.

All the Aussies are decent in the BBL so it would be a brave (mad) declaration.

once they both get their tons, let Usman and Carey bowl us to the close of play. I want all 11 players getting a bowl

He’s barely gone for a run tbf
Yeah but this isn't the first series in which Pakistani batsmen have identified the dangerous bowlers and just sat on them, and attacked the others. We need blokes who can get wickets on these decks, and I'm entirely sure Hazlewood is the man for that job.

Yeah that may well be so tbh. I think two seamers, green and two spinners was the way to go in hindsight but I don’t know if it would have made much difference on this thing

Lyon really needs more creativity. Needs to figure out how to set traps, lure batters into a mistake. Perhaps add an extra variation or two into his skillset. There's really no point to his bowling on roads like this atm. He just goes through the motion and tries to keep it dry, hoping for an unforced error from somewhere.

Something that separates the great spinners from the rest is they have the guile to produce a wicket out of no-where. Lyon's sorely missing that.

*not entirely sure.

But yeah it wouldn't have made that much difference. Even so, it's still concerning - you expect to bore batsmen into playing enough intemperate shots into getting more than three proper wickets in, what, 250 overs? That's what the Pakistani bowlers more or less did.

Yeah, these pitches where you really have to vary things up and try things is where Lyon is at his most ineffectual.

It doesn't help of course when you get a bloke out multiple times in a game but don't bother to review.

Losing 6/52 at the end of their innings is quite something in the context of this match; really should've been batting all day today instead of Pakistan.
Do you reckon they care, apart from Carey? Genuine question. I don’t know that it matters given they’re bowling part timers anyway and it’s like 22 degrees.
