Considering the LBW law didn't change between 1937 and about 1970, probably not. And luckily Aus and SA managed to talk England into adopting the modern rule. The "bloody footballers" who kept him out during a drawn Test against England lead to a change in the LBW laws.
I must admit I quoted Geoff Boycott, which is probably never a good idea. Ramadhin was highly critical of batsman hiding the bat behind the pad during that long spell against England.Considering the LBW law didn't change between 1937 and about 1970, probably not. It was actually umpire's refusal to interpret the LBW law properly and effectively keep applying the pre-1937 rule that was the problem (despite Alec Bedser's attempts to convince them). Some umpires, like Dickie Bird, were still doing this in the eighties (why Bird does not rank as high in my estimations as many peoples').
I think there may have been a period where they actually used a slightly stricter interpretation in England, but IIRC it was in the mid sixties - it's in some Wisden or another. Ironically if they had their way it would actually have been easier to pad away bowlers, not harder.I must admit I quoted Geoff Boycott, which is probably never a good idea. Didn’t one of the Aussie players post that his latest concussion was because he kicked a volleyball back onto his face?Time to give the game away.
that is the tamest "send off" I've ever heard of lolWhen I got out for 34 one of the brothers, running past me, said “you took too many balls mate”. I turned around and said “Giving send offs in the spirit of cricket is it?”
Garbage bowler.
TL;DW - Rashid Khan gets taken for 17 runs in 2 overs by a pair of village cricketers, including a reverse sweet for 4. Amateur
