Whatever it takes!!!
Pretty shabby way of retiring a 40-Test career. BCCI needs to up its communications game; that Saha-Dravid conversation if recounted accurately by Saha reflects rather poorly on the coach. Telling him his services are no longer wanted is one thing, asking him to contemplate other decisions i.e. retirement, is out of order.
Nah, I feel the opposite in this case. I think Saha is being advised to spin it this way, most likely by the espncrapinfo journalists he chose over Boria. Dravid as someone who was also his team mate may have just pointed out it was an option if he feels FC cricket is not worth it. Its definitely wrong if it was suggested in public but snippets of private conversations between a coach and a player who were team mates earlier, without context, mean nothing to me. It is very obvious a spin is happening with this story though. Saha's tweets and interviews are definitely being ghost written and directed right now.

Bit harsh to say he had to go as if he still wasn't good enough to play.
Not good enough as a 2nd keeper I think especially if you consider we have to groom someone else for our next overseas cycle. Home games to Pant & Bharat are right way do it.
Has been hinted many times that TM is looking past Saha

I mean looking for the future doesn't mean Saha is bad, he's one of the best wicketkeepers right now in Test cricket, if not the best. Just too invisible for people to care like Watling was.

EDIT: Fixed name. Sorry trundler, but Watling was invisible with regards to his role in the team and the general perception of his abilities and career.

Blundell is pretty mediocre and I hope you don't mean Conqueror of Dubai and SL, test double centurion noted uphill skiing expert Battling Watling because I won't stand for this disrespect.

There's no way he can/should get a longer run in future, dropping him and giving false hope by saying that he might get some chances in future would be wrong. There are plenty of youngsters around + KS Bharat is an equally good WK with plenty of potential if we are really looking at putting more weightage on pure keeping skills. Rahane and Pujara have been told clearly that they might get picked again, so they can prepare accordingly in domestic games. I am happy that ageing players are given a clear view of what is going on, some of them might not want to grind in domestic cricket unless there is an actual chance of making it to the national team.
