Round 1 is in the books. Wins for Maharashtra, Uttrakhand, Rajasthan, J&K, Madhya Pradesh, Kerela, Manipur, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad and Bengal. Really good result for Bengal, bowled out Baroda for 88 and chased down 350 to win. I think they had a lot of players missing due to positive covid tests too.
Looking forward to seeing how the points tables shake out. Seems like a win is 6 points and there is a 7th bonus point on offer. Not sure how that's earned, is it for innings wins?
19 games in a round is a huge amount of cricket. Some noteworthy performances - SRK 194, Lalit Yadav 177, Dhull 113 + 113*, SRK's 194. Hanuma Vihari 59 + 106, Taruwar Kohli 151 + 101* in the Sakibul Gani game, Shubham Sharma 92 + 103 in MP's win, Parvez Rasool 10/85, Snehal Kauthankar 165* off 175 in the 3rd innings vs Odisha (who managed to hold on for a draw despite no Anshuman), Akash Vasisht 87 + 140 vs Punjab, and Pavan Shah 219 for Maharashtra, followed by Satyajeet Bachhav 7/45 to secure the innings victory.
Che Pu got a duck 1st innings for Saurashtra but then hit 91 off 83 in the follow-on, they managed to draw the game. SLA Shams Mulani with 11/169 on a dead track.
Jayant Yadav took 6/111 in 55 overs on a flat pitch draw too.
Saurabh Kumar, picked in the Test squad for his SLA bowling, hit 81* to help UP salvage a draw against Vidarbha. UP managed just 301 in the 1st innings and Faiz Fazal chased in next innings with 192, Kumar taking 3/160. Umesh Yadav 2/58 and 0/68 for Vidarbha.
There are two Shubham Sharma's playing - Rajasthan SLA and MP batting allrounder. Both had good games in round 1. Only 3 Shubham Sharmas ever, these two happening to coincide at the same time is a pleasing coincidence. We've got two Yuvraj Singh's playing as well, tho I suspect that's not as accidental.
