CW's Ranking of Pace Bowlers (Tests)

h_hurricane

International Vice-Captain
Ambrose WPM (WPI especially ) is too low for a top tier atg, that too when there is not much competition for wickets within the team.
I strongly suggest you recommend Courtney Browne / Junior Murray as the best keeper in history. This would mean Ambrose had the best wicket keeping support in history and some points are deducted from his bowling average.

No thanks, Low WPM is good enough to rank him lower than Akram, Marshall, Steyn, Hadlee, Mcgrath, Lillee, Donald.. Etc

I always rate rare commodities higher - left handlers, atg openers, atg keepers and atg spinners.

We have 100s of atgs and atvgs in other categories.

Bro give it a rest. He started out competing with Marshall, Walsh, Bishop, and Patterson for wickets. Then he ended it competing with Walsh. Besides Waqar, who did Akram consistently compete with for wickets? Shoaib? Mustaq....no.

Lillee. He beat every fast bowler in every ranking of great cricket expert.
The greatest I have ever seen.No one is definitely better than lillee. And lillee impact in fast bowling edges everyone out.lillee has made the most impact as a fast bowler.Only larwood is in the tier with lillee as per the impact as a fast bowler. No one had the same reputation as lillee as a fast bowler in their generation.

None of them were proper 4+ WPM wicket takers during Ambrose career ( Including Ambrose himself )

Akram had competition from Waquar, Mushtaq, Imran, Saqlain.. Etc still he did far better than Ambrose.

Half of his career though was with Walsh and Bishop and some of Marshall.
Only Marshall managed 4+ WPM, but thats less than 30% of Ambrose Career.

Akram, Marshall, Mcgrath.. Etc had far bigger competition.

I mean Ambrose was the best in his team and he himself couldn't manage 2.3 wickets per innings.
