Olympics - does anyone actually care anymore?

This is absolute junk man.

Foreign policy has downstream impacts on elements of a population, not a new thing. But the logical extension of your posting is any regime should never be opposed because of the possible xenophobic or racist reaction.

There's people in England who still hate the Germans. Ergo, perhaps the Nazis shouldn't have been opposed? I doubt that's what you actually think, otherwise I'd put some heavy caveats in about disliking the 'good war' narrative around WW2. Alas my point is easy and clear. Got Spin is not enabling racism, it's utter junk to write that. The fact that racism is a byproduct of the CCP's rogue ways is deeply unfair and unsatisfactory. But the origin of this does not sit with someone deciding to oppose these monsters. Get a ****ing grip.
the endpoint of that entire line of thought is to negate the idea that there are any principles, there are any morals, and there are any standards at all. there are only Sides; and to be aligned with one side makes one [Good/Bad] and to be criticised by that side makes one [Bad/Good] axiomatically.

It’s bizarre how doing the right thing for selfish reasons attracts so much more criticism than just doing a selfish thing. I think I’ve seen studies where people are much more likely to condemn ‘tainted’ altruistic acts than mildly morally wrong acts.
I've said this before but I really believe that we've reached an obsession with hypocrisy in our general social discourse that has long since departed the realm of rationality and has long become totally disconnected from any semblance of right and wrong. We seem to have elevated it to the level of a mortal sin when generally it's mildly embarrassing at worst; it's probably because it's the cheapest and easiest gotcha available for everyone to grab at in the social media age.

The goal of life now is to own people online and not get owned online at any cost.

Yeah I posted something similar in BritPol not long ago.

I think it’s also a desire not to be a sucker. If someone ostentatiously does the right thing because they want their goodness to be acknowledged, if you acknowledge their goodness it kinda feels like you’re falling for the ruse.
