Whatever it takes!!!
Amazing game but lucky that England choke but not so hard that they lost the game. Dunkley should have seen them home from 25 off 30 with 5 wickets in hand and field spread out as much as it was.

Recorded the last 90 minutes or so while I went to my parents' house for dinner, so just caught up now - jeez, that was awesome. The best finish to a test match I've seen in ages, and an enthralling contest all the way through. More women's tests, please.

I'd love to see NZ get the opportunity too - would be gutted to see some of our ATGs (Devine, Bates, Satterthwaite) retire without ever playing one.

I know that $ is a big issue for not holding NZ women's tests but could they do it on the cheap with no DRS and only a skeleton camera crew, or is that contravening ICC regs? If we can still keep Hawke Cup games going (which is great), we should be able to have women's tests.

I mean we saw it a bit at this game - if you’re going to really take Tests seriously and play them, then women’s FC cricket has to be a real thing. One abiding theme of this game from both sides were constant mistakes being made stemming directly from only playing short form cricket.

It would be interesting to hear from the women too - do they enjoy playing Tests? Or would they rather stick to ODIs & T20s?

man the end to that game was fun to watch. womens cricket seems to have a lot of insane games these days.

also i think it's time to give them normal sized boundaries. they get it to the rope anyway and even if there were less sixes, does it matter? they hit so many shots that would be 4 anywhere.

And Devine hit one further up the bank at Cobham than anyone in the men's game.

I'm mostly happy with this squad, but Jonas over Kasperek is the concern. I rate Jonas really highly as a long-term prospect - she was great in the Super Smash, and her potential is obvious. But she's still only 17, and she has 0/70 from 11 overs across her entire international career to date.

It seems like a big gamble to pick her instead of Kasperek, who's been excellent for years (and has actually been batting really well domestically this summer too). I would have preferred her experience and proven quality instead of a future gun who's not quite there yet.

Anyone can feel free to dig this post up if Jonas ends up being the leading wicket-taker in the World Cup. Will be very happy to be proven wrong.

Meanwhile, Australia are making hard work of this first ODI.

But the Mooney-McGrath partnership seems to be turning things around pretty well now.
