Since its looking more and more like the chakra in chief is getting fired in a move that will spell ELITE INTENT in the boldest of print.

Could see them doing something like splitting up the Test and LO coaching jobs and keeping Langer in charge of the LO stuff. Really sounds like Cummins and Smith are pushing hard for Bayliss.

It'd be funny to see who would go first Dravid or Langer. I have my theory that Dravid will be gone after a disastrous WT20 later this year.

yes of course. it seems he was all but dropped anyway with the assistant coaches taking up the slack. the only reason to keep him is to avoid annoying his ex-team mates in the media who take an attack on Langer as an attack on them

Is this real. Please no.

Why?
In 2018, Langer was given a 4 year contract and initially his job was as much about restoring the team's battered image as it was about any win-loss ratio. Langer espoused a 5 point charter which he had successfully used to improve WA cricket both on and off the field - work hard, be honest, celebrate success, earn respect through actions and respect the past.
Since the sandpaper fiasco, and initially without the services of Smith and Warner, Langer has transformed the team into a successful unit which has only lost to India in 20 Tests played at home, retained the Ashes in England in 2019 and enjoyed a breakthrough T20 World Cup Win.
His biggest mistake would appear to be allowing a TV documentary to be made which captured his coaching style, warts and all. Since then, according to Josh Hazlewood, he had "probably taken a big back seat and let a lot of other staff play there roles."
Langer once had lunch with the famous Sir Alex Ferguson who advised him, "Never cede control to the players, because someone has to make the decision. Someone has to be the boss."
There can be no doubting Langer's successes both as a player and a coach and his loyalty is exemplified by his turning down of a suggested offer to coach England. If he is 'dropped' as coach I agree with Mark Waugh who said, "If I was the ECB I'd latch onto him."
What has he done to warrant this 'brown nosed gnome' rubbish that appears too frequently on CW? The thread's title and poll reflects this. Most seems to come from Australians on the Eastern seaboard who frequently dismiss achievements of those in the West.

Edited to correct home test statement.

I stand corrected. In 2018 there was a 2-1 loss to India and this was repeated 2 years later. What I should have said is that, in 20 home Tests, Australia has only lost to one nation - India.

i still say no given i can't think of a better replacement
i don't know what this is about. It's been reported at length that the two assistants have picked up responsibility that was taken away from Langer, so obviously those two would be fine. Then you've got Trevor Bayliss. The issue with a replacement is mainly that they will be asked to do more than the current head coach because the current head coach got turned into a figurehead. (and also that the next T20 WC won't be decided solely by Aaron Finch winning every coin toss)

I remember Gillespie being brought up in these discussions as the one who should've been coach by now, or as the next coach.

Langer shouldn't be dropped, he is a great actor, did a good job in that documentary on Amazon Prime. If there is another controversy and the team has to make a movie/docu to improve their image, they'll need Langer for his top-notch acting.
