4th Test at Sydney (?) - Jan 5-9 2022

International Debutant
Mark Waugh on the money again, Australia batted too long. Any more than 340 was unnecessary given they knew rain was around. Great effort to almost get the win regardless. That over from Cummins where he dismissed Buttler and Wood gave me flashbacks of Waqar Younis running through NZ sides in the mid-90's.

Oz prob batted too long by about 15 mins yesterday especially as weather was always likely to be a factor. A minor point but good learning experience for Cummins.

They wouldn't leave him out of a pink-ball test, surely?
Just depends how he pulls up. He was a bit proppy on his ankle in his last spell.

don’t get hating on him tbh. Thought he bowled fine, has all series. The game is over before tea if Aus take their catches this match

I'm astounded there is talk of Ussie being dropped.

I'm sorry, but if a white Australian player made back-to-back hundreds, there is no way in hell he would be dropped under any circumstances (beyond him engaging in some wrong conduct on or off the field) for the next test.
Don't bring this **** into it. **** yes Uzzy is being treated unfairly as plenty of players before him have as well. For some reason Langer and others don't like him but assuming it has anything to do with race shows who the real racists are

yeah he definitely wasn't at his best physically. dropped down to mid 130s a lot and didn't look happy with the bowling crease at all

'For some reason'.

He is a terrific, humble guy.

What reason could it be?

How do you know what he’s like? He might not be an easy bloke to deal with for all you know. Or he could be the second best bloke in the world

I mean, they just picked Boland ffs. I don’t know that race is a factor here.

good day for the Aussies with all but Cam Green chipping in.
however their tactics towards the end were SOFT and it's hard to work out why.
they should have pushed forward harder in the latter stages, even if they were bowled out much sooner for say 380/90, that would've been better.
to have an extra 30/40 mins bowling tonight would've probably given them the chance to snare Root.
with more rain and thunderstorms due in the next couple days, the Baggys should have been looking to move the game forward.
indeed it came back to haunt them, dumb tactics ending day 2.

Khawaja seems like a super bloke. Just a personality clash IMO, too outspoken maybe and Langer doesn't vibe with him. Shouldn't be a factor but when you have supremely flawed (and clearly biased) human beings like Langer in positions of power this is what happens.

Glenn Maxwell should have played 70 Tests by now

He's played 45 tests, been around for a decade, done a lot of interviews where he's pretty open.

Are you suggesting he is hiding a difficult personality that would outweigh his recent results?

That's Langer's problem.

Maxwell is not comparable as a test batsman to Khawaja. Too streaky

well held by the poms

Khawaja, Bairstow and to a lesser extent Crawley the big winners in terms of their careers here.
