aus team for hobart
harris dropped as khawaja cant be dropped, boland rotated as pink ball test and hes not a specialist. head and jhye richardson return. starc retains as a pink ball specialist, the only aus bowler to play all 5 tests.

Read that they dropped six catches and a no ball wicket this game. Overall you can definitely tell the focus and intensity dropped a little in all facets; still mostly high quality cricket but just not at the same sky-high level that characterised most of the first three games.
Even goes for the batting - if the series is live, Smith 100% converts one of those two scores. Best I've seen him bat in Tests since 2019

The SCG members enclosure has always been a bastion of good behaviour, but even its standards are descending to those seen in the outer stands.
SCG does really seem to be a repeat offender in this regard. Anyone who's been there knows full well that the Trumper stand in the afternoon is completely feral, a real no go zone. The writer is completely correct in pointing out that for all the BBL/T20's flaws, the crowd experience is a far more pleasant one than it can be in some parts of Test crowds on hot, drunken afternoons. It's bad for the game long-term IMO, a lot of people who would otherwise be enthralled by the experience would find that **** off-putting.
Not touched on here but not entirely unrelated either - I don't think I've seen that many interruptions for movement behind a bowler's arm in a game before.

Writer isn't wrong though that being said in seriousness. I've gone to a Test match once in my life with a fairweather cricket watcher and my take from it compared to a comfortable domestic match is that it's just a day of getting pissed on expensive, bad grog while yelling out unintelligible gibberish in a half-empty stadium that echoes with remarkable clarity.

What does skin colour have to do with it? Langer has constantly played favourites and has never forgiven Ussie for having an opinion. Other players screwed over the years by not being the favourite:

And a bunch of others. Happens all the time.

Matthew Hayden got screwed for years, should have played much more.
think Dean Jones also had some problems with selectors and missed some test cricket.

Martyn was out of the side for what, 7 years? And then got dropped after the 2005 Ashes again for no real reason. There's a reason his nickname was "scapegoat".
Hodge really should have played more than he did and was dumped unfairly. Was definitely dumped because someone in the setup didn't like him.
Maxwell never got a run in tests at all. Compare his treatment to Harris' treatment for example.

SOK possibly the best example. Averaged sub-25 as a spinner in the Shield when everyone else averaged 40+, and about 10 of them got a chance in the Test side before he did. He is a massive tool though tbf
Hodge was at least as good as half the batsmen when he played, and he was dropped 1 game after making an unbeaten 200. Definitely a lot more to it than just "he wasn't good enough"
