I also feel if Wagner didn't no ball the Mominal dismissal in the first innings when he was early on in his innings, that would have changed the game completely. He was on fire, and we then took the new ball straight away, with Boult and Southee coming on to bowl floaters and take the pressure off.

Yes it was very 'we've got enough'.

Our tail may genuinely suck away from home but in NZ, like most sides, our tail usually contributes something big. Here it was terrible and some of that was just lax.
Jamieson - 6&0
Southee - 6&0
Wagner - 0&0*
Boult - 9*&8

And add
Blundell - 11&0
Rachin - 4&16

Was just bad.
136/2 in the 2nd innings then Young was dismissed. All out for 169! 33/8!

Would be even more funny if it rains for 3 days in Christchurch and Bangladesh win the series.
It never rains in the South Island mate. No chance. Also they will probably lay down a 3 day test green pitch just in case. And the way we batted vs Bang seamers this game it could be a 2 dayer.

Anyone else starting to sense that Rachin isn’t a test player’s arsehole yet?
Steve Waugh and Martin Crowe started their careers a slow and unconvincing way. Rachin has youth and high raps on him just like those two did.
Let Rachin learn at number 7 or 6. He will get better. Played hardly any tests so far.

As a professional sport, Test cricket isn't the arena to "learn" in my opinion. There's better players than Rachin around at the moment who would offer more to the team, i.e. Mitchell. He'll come again I'm sure but now isn't his time.

Yeah I think the completely weird role for him as number 7 all rounder role is messing with his head a bit. He's an opening bat who can bowl a few. And he's still a season or 2 away from being a test player anyway, and they are trying to nurse him into the team.

NZ is down on batting all rounders, Mitchell would feel a better option if we picked Patel.

Yeah, probably fair, but Rachin’s never really earned his callup through sheer weight of runs in domestix. That was waved off with the “Dookaburra dismissals don’t count” defence, but I just can’t help but feel that he’s been picked on nothing more than potential and the long-standing selector dream of having a spinner who can carry his weight with the bat when Nz pitches make spin pointless. KW was pushed into test cricket too soon, and he’d been averaging 50+ for 2 years before he even got a callup. Rachin hasn’t shown anything close to that kind of form.
