***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

If Liton had caught either of Young's edges, I'd almost have Bangladesh as favourites. They've got what you need for a flat pitch baking in the sun - a spinner getting some bounce and a genuinely quick bowler....

Bangladesh have been dominant and fully deserve the position they're in.

Regardless of the result now, fully expect there to be an inquest as to the poor NZ performance along the lines of:

* No Plunket Shield lead-in games

* Is the Bay Oval the ground to play our 3 swing bowlers + Wagner, and a part-time spinner? Need a bit more variety in the attack on these type of pitches I feel.

* Are the bowlers fit enough (except Wagner)? Pace was well down, and Jamieson looked out of sorts throughout. They haven't played that much cricket recently so perhaps it's match fitness? Comes back to no lead-in games for me.

* I realise Ravindra is a fan-favourite and he certainly has a great future, but he's an opener who bowls spin part-time. He should be challenging for Will Young's place, not coming into the middle/late-order. I'd prefer to see an aggressive CdG type player take his place who would add more value. Mitchell has a claim to take his place for the next Test and SA series I reckon.

* I've found McCullum's comments on Latham's captaincy interesting throughout the Test. You can read between the lines that he isn't a fan. It's a bit of a shame the commentary team is so close to the playing group that you can't get honest opinions on what he really thinks.

Lol yeah, might have been a good match not to drop the bloke who just took a 10-fa

new zealand just need to build a safe lead around 200 to secure a draw and move on to the deciding test match

Ebadot receives a lot of crap and his accuracy does go to pieces at times, but his pace is not bad. I can see why Bangladesh coaches/selectors have hopes of turning him into a decent bowler.

Ebadot is sharp but there's levels between 'bowling 140s at his peak' and being a 'genuinely fast bowler'.

Guess he has stood out in this Test with all the other seamers not hitting those speeds.

Last time NZ were at risk of being beaten by Bangladesh, Dan Vettori batted all day to save blushes. I nominate Nicholls as the ugly crab batsman to replicate that here.

He was complete **** to the point of parody for a good number of matches but has improved massively under Ottis Gibson. His pace has gone up and he was actually consistently 140+ bowling on hot days on dead Deshi decks vs Pakistan. For some reason he's actually been slower in this match.

I'll give the selectors some credit for persisting with him. He's a good natural athlete and it sounds like he took up serious cricket quite late in life so it makes sense he had more development to do than most.

All speeds have been down for all bowlers which suggests he might hit higher 140s elsewhere
