All time world test XI selection

Not for the no. 6 position though.

Not even Smali or PEWS would have Imran ahead of Sobers at 6.
There's no reason why Sobers couldn't bat four or five in this XI tbh. In fact, he probably should on batting ability alone.

Is there a reason it isn't also extended to Sobers?
I think because there are some idiots who believe Imran was a better all rounder than him.

Disappointed I don't get lumped in with the Imran love. :p

I'd actually assumed the one man stopping Sobers being a 100% lock was Kallis.

Sobers is just a little better than Kallis at everything, and more versatile. Don't think he's serious competition

Him batting at 4 behind Bradman is actually preferable in this or any team. Not even factoring in the right / left combination, can you imagine the carnage.

And then you actually look at his record at 4. It was arguably his best position.

Hobbs-Hutton-Don-Sachin-Sobers-Imran-Gilly-Hadlee-Warne-Marshall-Mcgrath is my ATG team. And there is a fair chance we will end up with this line-up.

Correct. Sobers is the second best batsman of all time imo. Regardless of his bowling.
Even if some would group him with and find it difficult to separate him from Tendulkar or Richards, his ridiculous slip catching is more than a deciding factor.

But yes, he deserves to also be an automatic selection, but also possibly a look higher than 6.

Chance of that line-up being the end result is approximately 1%.

Should we bat Sobers at 5 and Viv/Lara at 6?

Whatever it takes!!!
Count me in on the Sobers love. I dont believe in rating players I have not seen play but to me Sobers being the #2 batsman of all time is as clear cut as Bradman being #1. And Sobers being #1 allrounder of all time just as clear cut.

I love all-rounders and hence, went with them heavy ahead of a batsman. But yeah, there might mostly be an all-rounder to batsman change to this team by the CW masses.

Similar kind of feel to an AT SA team with Kallis, Faulkner, Procter and Pollock all possible selections

While not exactly the line-up or team balance I'd pick, that's a spectacularly good side.
Seeing as it's a team comprised of ATGs, the majority of whom most agree are arguably/definitively the best in their discipline, I'd be way more shocked if it wasn't a spectacularly good side!
