Anderson is the reason we invented the term ATVG, and Ashwin is a step below him. Too many names already, need to start cutting names rather than adding new onesAdd Ashwin and Anderson in the list. Then it will be 80 all time great cricketers list.
Ashwin is a closer to being a more valuable cricketer than Anderson on account of being a serviceable all rounder.Anderson is the reason we invented the term ATVG, and Ashwin is a step below him. Too many names already, need to start cutting names rather than adding new ones
Edit: Rabada? Wow
Ashwin is an ATG. Anderson is great and at this point, I think his performances keep improving so much that I am not sure why he should not be ATG. TJB is just having a sook as usual at reality.Ashwin is a closer to being a more valuable cricketer than Anderson on account of being a serviceable all rounder.
I think my list is pretty short, but agree to a certain extent. These lists are starting to read more like “world class players/best of their generation” rather than ATG.
No Sachin?I think my list is pretty short, but agree to a certain extent.
But there is also levels to this. For batsmen there's Bradman and the legitimate contender to be next in line. And for bowlers there's also a top tier. That would reduce such a list to
Bradman
Sobers
Smith
Richards
Lara
Hammond
Hobbs
Hutton
Gavaskar
Marshall
McGrath
Hadlee
Steyn
Ambrose
Gilchrist
Warne
Muralitharan
O'Reilly
Kallis
Imran
The last 2 a bit of a combination act, but overall closer to a list of the elite
Oversight and fixedNo Sachin?
Is Dhoni there for his white ball exploits? Otherwise Watling would be a better option. And if Dhoni is there for white ball cricket you need Bevan and Starc. Also not convinced about RabadaMy list of all-time great cricketers...

no white ball cricket considered. Is Dhoni there for his white ball exploits? Otherwise Watling would be a better option. And if Dhoni is there for white ball cricket you need Bevan and Starc. Also not convinced about Rabada
Only one 'keeper? Gillie was great value, but others were technically better glovemen.I think my list is pretty short, but agree to a certain extent.
