3rd Test at Melbourne - December 26 - 30

There's interesting case of Marnus & Mayank Agarwal.
Both scored away couple of 50's on their first Breakthrough tours.. Mayank in Australia & Marnus in England. Both bludgeoned bowling attacks in home conditions. Mayank got to play in NZ & Australia & only managed 1 50+ score in 4 tests. Marnus hasn't played any away tests since the bumper home season. Another case of flawed Ranking system.
How is what you just described evidence of a flawed ranking system? If Labuschagne has a run of seven Tests where he scores just 224 runs at 17 - like Agarwal did - he will lose rankings points. If Labuschagne is injured/rested/dropped and for whatever reason misses nine consecutive Tests - like Agarwal did - he will lose rankings points.

But is that good Enough to surpass Root who has two double tons this year away & a 180 odd as well? This was followed by another great home summer for him. How is that not flawed? Travis at no 10 lol for doing what? Fawad Alam has had better run than him in the past year

Crawley I can get behind. Don't care what he averages for the year as I think he has the game to do well in these conditions

Bairstow playing will be diabolical

The problem is it's actually kinda true, Harris does have a very good Shield record over the last 3 or 4 years. Admittedly aided by some seriously flat home pitches, but it's not like he isn't performing for Victoria

Leach will probably play here and then be dropped for Sydney again. lol.
Sydney taking turn is a bit of a myth these days anyway, at least internationally

Whatever it takes!!!
Word is that Crawley, Bairstow, Wood and Leach will all be recalled for the third Test.

No confirmation yet of who is getting dropped. No shortage of contenders on that front.
If its for Pope, I would have rather played Lawrence ahead of Bairstow. If Bairstow is coming in to replace Buttler, then its a different story.

Australia should be pretty straightforward to predict fitness permitting

DA Warner
MS Harris (ugh)
M Labuschagne
SPD Smith
TM Head
CD Green
AT Carey
PJ Cummins
MA Starc
JA Richardson
NM Lyon

Playing Boland would be a classic example of overthinking things

I'll be honest, Boland could come in and take a 10fer with the way England are looking. Otherwise your team seems fine (apart from making Neser cry again).

I cringe every time I see Harris. On the basis of what they’re saying he stays indefinitely. But he isn’t making runs and there are other options. I’m expecting him to make runs in one inning here and that will be him in for the next two substandard series.

My suspicion is that Boland in Test cricket would be Clint McKay/John Hastings all over again, honestly would pick Neser over him if that was the choice but in an ideal world neither would play on Boxing Day

thats likely the XI. doesnt really matter as cummins and jhye will rip right thru them. Both world class. 2 gun quicks right there. They'll keep starc as the left arm variation complements the attack of right arm bowlers.
