A Bowling Lineup For Damage Control

His batting never come off in ODIs like the selectors hoped and he wasn't the hero @Dan claims, but he was a decent ODI bowler. Definitely not one of Australia's worst ever players - he wouldn't even be in the bottom half.
That's what I thought, Harvey's bowling kept him in the team, I loved to see the batsmen just totally misreading his variations and subtle pace adjustments. And he also had a very good FC record as a bowler.

An English attack, not a very exciting one, but plenty of damage control,
Tom Cartwright,
Derek Shackleton,
Les Jackson,
Eric Hollies,

None of these barely went for 2 runs per over in their very long careers. they would get quite a few LBW's.

One option I was considering would be Fazal Mahmood, who was Pakistan's first great bowler known for his accuracy and ability to cut the ball even on matting wickets.

Would Lance Gibbs be considered ATG level?
Lance Gibbs very much had a career of two halves. In his first 41 tests he took 183 wickets @ 24.39 with 13 fivefors and 2 tenfors. In his last 38 tests he took 126 wickets @ 35.91 with a strike rate of 106.3, no tenfors and just a handful of fivefors.

So I guess you could call him world class in the first half of his career, but he played on long after he lost his venom and his overall career was probably a little short of ATG.

Or maybe batsmen got better against off-spin?

(**** no to Anderson )and McGill on a road.
Anderson has been good in some years in road as well.Anderson’s accuracy has been on another level compared to before in last some years. He is without a doubt, the best fast /medium pacer among my non-ATGs bowling line up.

I think they're arguably the best choices if we're restricted to picking non-ATGs but a swing bowler and a loose leggie would be far from optimal for containing runs. Anderson would get milked and MacGill would be a pressure release valve.

I always thought you had BRET HART in your profile picture. I was so wrong.
