so do we think smith does what he did in 2017 again given the option
Not enforce the follow on? It's such a bolted-on trend for international sides now...but surely if the time of night suits, and he's got 2 guys who aren't going to play the next Test and 2 guys to come in fresh, that it's a serious consideration to lob England back in if he can. And with England not having a front-line spinner, either.

probably. i was one of the few who felt not enforcing that evening was fine though (and still do)

@GoodAreasShane strongly disagrees with you but sometimes I get the feeling he was more concerned about making sure Anderson didn't get good bowling conditions to improve his figures than actually winning the game.
