Yes. It was always a requirement to take a keeper at 7 or 8. Taking a player that qualifies as a specialist 1-5 batsman who happens to keep wickets doesn't over-ride the requirement. Sorry about that, but I can't change rules mid-game.

Now that I've been exposed I may as well reveal my reasoning. I rate Verity and Laker very highly and think they're in the same tier as Warne/Murali. And I can get away with picking them later on so I feel I get better value with an OP pace attack and an ATG spinner than I do with a meh 3rd seamer + OP spinner combo. Also I'm pretty sure I was just winding up @a massive zebra with the Laker bashing (and a couple of times I randomly decided to **** on Verity for the same reason...). Benaud can bat (duh) and Tayflield just flies under the radar which is even better.I bet.

If we look at great spinners trundler picks:
Murali, (at least) 1 time
Warne, 3 times
Tiger, 2 times (2 more times trundler tried to pick O'Reilly illegitimately
Grum, 2 times
Laker, 5 times (amidst a lot of spiels about him being crap)
Verity, 5 times
Tayfield, 5 times
Benaud, 5 times
