Sod it we are losing this series heavily so we may as well play Bairstow. At least then we can play Bairstow bingo and pick between 30 and 39 as to when he gets bowled through the gate.

All depends on how long Cummins lets the lesser mortals out their trade before he graciously accepts the mantle of responsibility to get the important English wickets.

Good enough result for Aus but they’re still not putting sides away with the bat when they’re in front.

At 2/190 odd here they should have made 500 plus. It’s a bad habit and it’s cost them a stack over the past two years at least, going back to Leeds in 2019.

Same thing last summer vs India. 3/200 in Brisbane batting first last year - all out 360. 3/230 in Sydney - all out 330. Really lacking that ability to bat sides out of the game. Was a rare event when they passed 400 in this game.

Yeah, this Ashes is pretty much the battle of the batting sides. There is enough bowling talent to take 20 wickets, the side which bats best wins the series.

Well played Marcus Harris on his unbeaten knock.
The English tried everything but just couldn't find a way to get him out.
Surely this locks him in as opener for the remainder of the series...

The concurrent A game is interesting. Englishmen getting out to Neser short balls, allowing Marsh to hit 27 ball 60 with 7 sixes, Street hitting a century.

This tour is so over.

You just know for the next test we will bring back Anderson and Broad but drop Robinson and Wood and play Woakes who has been the worst of them all.
i think they’ll bin Leach - they have to. Play the two bench warmers, Robinson and Wood. Long tail though. That might get Woakes a gig over one of the others. Otherwise play three seamer plus stokes as four man attack with Root bowling some spin and an extra batsman. Dunno if Stokes is up to that work load though tbf to him (which no one should, he’s a violent thug)

Jimmy is good for 10, Stuart 8, either could replace Burns at the top of the order.
They are massively missing Sibley.
They are massively missing a coach who actually knows what he is doing, test cricket has to be top agenda for things ever to improve again too

I'm very happy Australia won that. Overnight, Root had me in a state of woe, thinking he and Malan were going to set Australia a target they would collapse in chasing.

Honestly don't think England should be as pessimistic as they are right now, hard loss but series is far from over. Hameed looked extremely comfortable in both innings and was unlucky to get strangeled down leg. Robinson bowled brilliantly, Malan and root are in the runs.

If stokes is injured I would go
1.Burns
2.Hameed
3.Malan
4.root
5.Pope
6.Lawrence
7.Buttler
8.Robinson
9.Andy
10.Broad/Woakes
11.Leach/Overton.

Wood Bowked his heart out, let him rest In the second game. Would back this attack to role through the crims under lights.

Starc playing this game is gonna massively bite us, he was always going to play the 2nd test, and if he performs there the selectors aren't gonna suddenly rest him, and the 5th is another pink baller. Nice to see green step up and fill in with the ball to make up for starc, 2 huge wickets.
