The fragility in the confidence of some Australian supporters seems surprising. Root's a world class player you can't expect him to fall cheaply every game. Australia still miles ahead at the moment. Might be interesting if the Gabba had a recent history of falling apart in the fourth innings but as it doesn't England's best chance must still be to be saved by a bit of weather.

Haze is struggling with a possible injury hence low overs. Waste of a selection. Starc has successfully bowled himself permanently out of test contention. Lyon is now impotent as a spinner just like last Indian series.
