Must be nice for our bowlers to actually have a full 24 hours with their feet up for a change, instead of being back out in the field a couple of sessions later.

Nah, Cummins' batting is overrated. He had one or two good series when he came back but has been consistently worse than Starc since then.
his numbers aren't great but he does pass the eye test. I think he could score runs if he applies himself to it, but let's see. As OS says he might just end up bowling himself into the ground instead.

Mason Crane coulda had class, he could have been a contender, he could have been somebody instead of a bum which is what he is let's face it
Strong disagree, Crane's FC numbers were absolutely rancid at the time, and not off an especially small sample size either. Believe it or not, his current average of 41.36 is actually significantly better than it was at the time

If anything it is surprising he didn't do worse in that Sydney test

Ashwin hacked into Smith.exe and he hasn't been the same since
No he didn't, he batted like this against Pakistan when everyone else belted them. Funnily enough I was watching highlights from 11/12 and 14/15 recently and Ashwin's lines actually weren't any different to in the most recent series. He's just psyched himself and forgotten how to play straight and on the off side.

Yeah they were. Noticeably straighter with multiple catchers on the leg side.

If this isn't going to be competitive I atleast hope we get a 2013-14 style hammering. The last ashes was so crushingly boring, atleast loss in entertaining fashion ffs

Not the footage I saw. If anything in 11/12 he was bowling even more leg side. I was quite surprised.
Hmm, not sure I've gone back and watched enough to say for sure but the fields were set for it this time and he used the line as an attacking option spinning it in to draw an inside edge to leg slip/short leg. Improved tactics from Dhoni's time.

Haha yeah, most wickets in England's first wickets barring maybe Burns missing a straight one on leg stump were down to bad defensive shots. Terrible batting but nothing spectacular. I don't remember his name but someone on here gets really worked up about bad defensive shots copping less flak than bad attacking shots.

Also, I know some people aren't too fussed about over rates, but 54 overs have been bowled in 4 1/2 hours. That's 12 an hour exactly. Pitch invasion aside there's been so much stuffing around with the field, extra drinks and so on. It's just not good enough.
