Convince me that post wasn't an utter rose-coloured nostalgia trip back to the good old days and I'll retract my point.

If you're nostalgic for a time when Hitler existed, questions have to be asked frankly. Historically dispassionate perspectives are required to analyse the Don.

I can only surmise that JBMAC's memory is like a VHS tape that has been rewinded too many times to the Sharon Stone scene in Basic Instict. He's gone back so many times it's all just fuzzy now.

I made that original post while smashed but I'm going to stand by it.
Then it's up to YOU to PROVE your guess. Can't use the word Theory because you weren't there Have another beer chum and chill

Prove you actually saw him and that he was a better batsman than someone who would average 40 in Shield Cricket today. Anyone who unironically cuts off the front foot is doing something horrificly wrong.

Bet you can't tell us what the Don smelled like or how he walked.

Anyways this is all meaningful talk. Rose coloured glasses vs high optic glasses is the theme.

I've yet to see any solid argument for the Don succeeding in today's game where he can't spend half his year writing op-eds and sipping ice tea.

I asked the question first Sunshine. You can't answer a question satisfactorily with a question. I do not have to prove anything to your likes. 99.70 is his Test average speaking for itself. END of story.

Adam Voges has a Test Average well over 60, does it speak for itself that he is the second best bat of all time? I think so.

You've answered a question with meaningless sentiment. A man who cannot play off the back foot against targeted short bowling is worth questioning dispassionately. The Don was proficient no doubt, as a selfish batsman. Stan McCabe is someone who did more for the world of batting, no doubt. He just lacked the ego to hurt his teammates with indulgent feats of runscoring. It's a tarnished legacy the Don holds.

Anyways good convo, I value your aged wisdom of input JBMAC but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. We both got equal grounding on this issue.

The job for a batsman is to win matches which bradman did better than anyone has ever done and will ever do,McCabe averaged 48,bradman 99.94 in same condition for batting ,same era, that is enough to say how good bradman was. It’s like saying a batsman with average of 25 was better than lara, tendulkar, richards, ponting .Bradman scored 87.45 runs per innings even without not out, show a selfish innings of bradman ,just 1 to show he played selfish inning.

How is voges 31 innings 61.87average with 7 not out ,47 runs per innings compared with bradman,as I said in a thread where no one agreed this is what bradmans haters do,find small small things and try to downgrade the achievement of bradman and yes Andy Ganteaume averaged 112 you can say that too.

This is a good point. Did JBMAC see Andy Ganteaume in the prime of his career?

With McCabe, his roof was far higher. Consistency is the enemy of greatness.
