He wasn't running on it for one.
No, but the non striker should have spiked his leg when he was in his way as he was stopping/slowing down in front of him.

Could get a fine for arguing with the umpire though depending on what language he used as he was pretty wound up at the time.

Lol... the danger area starts a few feet from the crease, not straight from the stumps. Ottherwise no fast bowler ever will be able to follow through. Ashwin was never getting an inch into the danger area. The issue was that he was coming in the way of the non-striker and umpire and that is for them to sort it out. Ultimately it is creating a new angle as no bowler ever delivers from that close to the stumps and IMHO, as long as the bowler is able to deliver it (and it is very tough and can cause injury if you do it too long) I dont mind allowing it. Of course, you have to ensure you dont get in the way of the non-striker and if you do when they are running, you should be cut the penalty runs which the law dictates.
Ok but he was running roughly 1 m in front of the popping crease directly down the centre of the pitch. He wasn't skipping across the pitch on every delivery.

Before there's about 25 more posts on this, the danger area doesn't begin right in front of the crease, it's a few feet from the crease. Ashwin is skipping right across the crease, so he's not actually stepping into the danger area.
He bowled from the crease, and then he was running across about 1 m forward from the crease. Where a full straight ball would pitch.

Ross needs to make the most of that let off. One guy in the lineup who can push the scoring rate. Not his favourite oppo attack though.

Whatever it takes!!!
I always thought it was roughly a metre from the crease, going down the pitch. That's where it looked like Ashwin was running to me.
They have actual white markers on the pitch that tells the umpires where they are and they also showed the map on the TV coverage. He was never getting into the danger area, not even once.

Ok? Wasn't the focus but sure.

Fair enough. To me there were a few deliveries that looked in that zone - and I don't know if they showed those ones with the area map on.

****ing Rahane has been so bad with the captaincy. Reactive all the time. Why the hell would you give any seamer here more than 4 over spell when you got Ash, Jaddu and Axar to bowl?

And there ya go. Axar breaks through. ****ing change Umesh for Ash or Jaddu now, idiot. But knowing him, he is gonna get Ishant on. ?

Well so much for that. Hope he finds a way this tour!

Good catch by Bharath that time.

I can't believe Tom Latham caused Ross Taylor to edge that ball. How dare he bat this way. Coward.

Yet another wicket caused by Latham's slow batting. Dire effort from the so called 'opener'
