150.What sort of lead do we need to win the game?
While I often find his batting frustrating, Southee like everyone has a limited amount of time to hone his skills and I can appreciate that it’s best for him and NZ to let his batting talent go to seed while he perfects his bowling.Who gaf about jamodis and jamt20s etc
Southee test bowler is superb and also has buckets in the slips. Dude is invaluable, and his batting is hilariously bad and i can't even get angry about it anymore
I think 100 could be enough. If they get 450 it’ll be well into day 4 by the time the third innings starts and batting will likely be very difficult at that point.150.
Top marks for this analysis. His weakness against bowlers who can shape the ball back into his pads has been something that’s been noted on the forum for the past couple of years.I haven’t watched much of Will Young until now. My initial impressions are mixed
Positives
Well organised
Bats with positive intent
Bat in front of pad against spinners on forward defence against spin to negate lbw
Understands innings management and puts the team needs before his own like most down under batsman do
Negatives
A rather large negative that i fear will be his undoing. He has wide back lift that isn’t straight. His pre delivery pick up is fine but his actual back lift has a flourish towards point. This will lead to lbws, playing around his front pad, mistiming off drives, not being able to drive well on the up. He has adjusted for all of this by opening his stance to avoid lbw but that is not going to suffice long term.
That analysis based on my years as a top order bat in senior men’s cricket and coaching clinics.
Yeah, last night they were prepared to give away 20 runs to be able to maximise their chances of getting to stumps none down. Today they’re gonna have to make some runs (at least 250).They seem to want to take more singles today or play more shots. Have to see how it goes.
No, no relation to Bryan as far as I’m aware.Wasn't there a Young who used to open for New Zealand in the mid to late 90s ? Is Will Young also a second gen international cricketer like his opening partner?
