Australia will have the psychological edge as always. Will need this NZ squad to change that this sunday, they did against england so i believe in them

England never had a psychological advantage though, just an umpiring one.

England are an excellent side but we've never frozen in the headlights like we do against even the Australian under 12s since the 2015 world cup final.

There was also that T20I tri-series with England in 2018 (nice concept I thought), NZ had a home final at Eden Park and tripped over themselves there against a decidedly second choice Australian side.

I think NZ will be okay on the mental side of things, but now that Conway’s out the batting seems wafer-thin - I just don’t like Seifert and Phillips’ chances against Starc Cummins and co, not to mention the lower order starting Santner at 7. Lot depending on that top 3.

We have never had much trouble beating Australia in a limited overs international of minimal significance. I think it is probably 50:50 in the last 20 years.

But I don’t think we have ever beaten them when it really counted.

EDIT: Once in 16 matches in ODIs

Stats to me mean absolutely little at this point, it’s a whole different game with most players being different. There batting has to come alive this final but they weren’t great on the 2015 and 2019 World Cup finals they can’t rely on mainly their bowling this match I think

Nz will win
1) more finals experience
This their 4th final since 2015
Nz Will target 150ish as a winning score
2) far far better spin bowlers

Would like to see Australia win this. It’s an amazing stat that they have never won it and would be a great underdog story

Lol. Australia are never underdogs in a game of cricket vs NZ. Just look at the betting odds. Australia are firm favorites-not raging favs but they are favorites on every betting site I've seen.

That is strange. Australia are dog **** in this format. They have been lucky to get through to the finals and then extremely lucky to win the semi. This is a coin toss. Firm favourites just shows betting people are fools.

Neither side is the best one here, but these are the teams who get jobs done regardless of format*

Australia dicking around with paper bag caps then coming good in pool play and NZ realising there's a world event in two weeks they haven't bothered to depth test for are both common memes now.

*unless they're NZ against Australia
