Stumped!

GG was able to get 229 all out.

The innings took off after the fall of the 6th wicket when the score was 127. Robin Oxley and wicketkeeper Arie Fouche added 72 for the 7th wicket...and a couple of late flurries from the tail ensure that 220+ was achievable.

Andrew Short really tied things down with his economical bowling, taking 2 for 23 in 10 overs. He was hard to put away.
Sajjad Rabbani came, in the end, to clean up the tail. He picked up 3 for 62. The rest of the bowlers chipped in with a wicket a piece.

Oxley top-scored with 48 (77), Fouche with 46 (77), Ernst Levy made a brisk 42 (46).

Streak against ataraXIa finally broken in the Big Bash LEague - a very disappointing batting performance, the wheels fell off after the first four overs had been going great guns, and though the bowlers did their best (Van Heerdens again with a crazy unplayable spell) defending 114 was always going to be tough.

Kinda surprised with how low his starting skill is.

accuracy of 3 means hisbowling will never be a factor

The market is starved of batting talent and 14 current isn't that bad starting skill (eg Mthabela was 10/41 when I pulled him and is now 34/41 entering his last year of DEV)

Surprised that ZCC's 22/43 16 YO that we signed on for $91K received no bids at a starting price of 43K

Happy to hold onto him, but was hoping to use the space in the XI to groom a new keeper/bat. He's up for offers at 45K if anyone is keen.

Had a bit of a reform at Winton CC over the last week or so - pruned the squad down to 18 players of which 2 are on the transfer list - we are also on the market for some young talent. Finally have some decent coaching talent - a coach with 15 batting, a coach with 17 bowling, just need to find a 3rd and then hopefully can start adding good value to young players. 13 of 18 players currently at 18 or younger, 13 of 16 excluding the transfer listed players. Short-term pain but hopefully it brings long-term gain and hopefully I'm patient enough lol.

Batting feast at Treacle Mine Road today, Dynamo playing Jan CC (less active here these days) and luckily bowled out the visitors before the 50 overs, so the target is a more realistic 291. In response, openers Hughes and Waters are rollicking along at 94 for no loss, with the newly signed force Jed Aye coming in at three and Marita at four to hopefully keep the runs flowing.

Interesting stuff JOJO - in the spirit of learning - what is the weekly wage of a 15 and 17 coach? Once you pruned your squad from 63 players you always seem to have a lot more dosh than the whisky addled team in Jura!!

FYI I have 3 coaches at level 10 all with a wage of between 5.5 and 6.0 k a week - interested to hear from other managers: (I know this number can vary based on the age of the coach and the levels of ability he has outside of the 'core' ability)

what the wages of their coaches are
if they go for 3 coaches
what mix of coaches they choose
your opinion on the rate of improvement you get from having coaches say at Level 5, 10 and 15 so we can kind of work out how much 'bang for your buck' you get for the increased ability and wage of a coach

So for example - lets say a 16 year old bat or bowler starts the season at 15 actual and has potential of 40. What increase in his actual do you think would be down to coaching over a 15 week season with a 5/10/or 15 coach

Good stuff!

My 15 batting coach is 20.9k, my 17 bowling coach 22.5k, the batting coach is 0-1-0 in the other 3 coaching areas, the bowling coach 1-1-2 in the other coaching areas. But I saw one on I think 50k in the market recently so seems to vary quite wildly.

Ideally would like someone who is decent across all areas as my 3rd coach but at this stage, my 3rd coach is on 3.5k and has 2 batting, 7 bowling 1 in fielding and physio.

I don't think it was that much, I hope not lol but yeah I recall my squad being very inflated previously. Just listed 2 stalwarts in Glenn and Jennings since my last post too. Might have to work at a slight operating loss at this rate but if it can lead to good talent development hopefully sales more than make up for it - and I've got probably my highest cash reserves since playing so hopefully a bit of time to see out any early losses.

To give a bit of insight in my little experience with the coach so far.

My 15 batting coach arrived very recently so not had any training with them yet but with the coaching team for yesterday which is same as today apart from Butt for Mahajan (6 batting) - 14 pops from current 17 players - 16 pops overall - 2 of those must have since been sold.

Of the 3 players my 17 bowling coach was coaching -1 got a pop in accuracy to 10, 1 got a pop in accuracy to 10 and variation to 7 and the other who is very young and a lot of room for development had pops in each bowling area from 4-4-4 to 5-5-5

I was teasing you about the squad size!

So we have so far the following levels and wages:
Level 7 - 3.5k
Level 10 - 5.7k
Level 15 - 20.9k
Level 17 - 22.5k

So it would be fascinating to get an idea if a Level 17 coach gives a player 4x as much uplift as a Level 10 coach (5.7k x 4 = 22.8k) . I suspect not - that benefits reduce rapidly incrementally (but of course that incremental benefit at high cost is what the very top teams with millions of £ in the bank can afford and need to spend in order to make the vital difference of a point or two of actual that can turn their WR to 3 instead of 10 for example)

The difficulty is of course what comes from coaching and what from IGT- the forum and management is very coy on this. One could conduct an experiment of buying two youths of similar act/pot, age , batting style - and play them in an equal number of matches and give one coaching and one not and then track the improvement- that would be as about as near as you could get to a 'placebo study' (and easier with batters instead of bowlers because once a bat faces a ball in an innings it is the same as facing 100 balls whilst it is more complex for bowlers)

BUT I'm too poor to waste a player as a placebo to satis  fy my crazy theories!!

For what its worth I can give a little info in how much action Cracknell (my 4-4-4 to 5-5-5 bowling youngster has had). They didn't play the 50 over game. They got a bat and had figures of 4-1-15-1 in a Development game v a bot. Then I forgot to set orders for T20 match so Cracknell ended up keeping annoyingly. Although hopefully means there is further scope for development in future weeks. He is very young and at a poor level at this stage though so the real test is can he go from young player with potential to decent enough to play on merit and still have scope for development.

But yeah would suspect you are right that you wouldn't get 4x better coaching for 4x the price.
