i've said this even pre tampering, he wasn't a good captain prior to that and won't be now either
He was also at the point where his head exploded after captaining for a while. Hence how he was pre Cape Town. It's no coincidence his very very best series seem to be followed by a bit of a drop off. He gets worked up - almost as much as sunilz when deifying an Indian cricketer. He gets mentally cooked enough as is from the focus he puts into batting let alone captaincy. Just let him play as a batsman.

Well Lyon's taken 399 test wickets tbf. I mean, I wouldn't pick him to do it and he has the congenital defect of being a finger spinner, but he's a lock to play, barring injury.

Speaking of locked in players, who would be the last player Aussie fans would want to be injured for a decent chunk of the Ashes? Say they miss 2-3 Tests?

Cummins. Smudge is class and all but I have faith in our batsmen to outbat England in our backyard without him.

What I don't have faith in is our bowling lineup without Cummins.

Really? I think we've got more fast bowlers who can do a decent job than we do reserve batsmen. Who do you bring in for Smith? Wade? Marsh? Henriques? Handscomb? They aren't fit to carry his jock strap.

Whatever it takes!!!
I think either or both Marshes can do a job against this England attack in Aussie conditions. Like they did last Ashes.

CA website reporting Pucovksi still having concussion symptoms a week out from his scheduled return to the Shield.
The bloke should retire. Big story over here today is Carl Hayman former AB prop has early onset dementia at 41 after too many head knocks.

Do we have any bowlers who can produce the consistency Cummins has? If smudge kicked the bucket tommorow we have marnus and Warner who average 60+at home and guys like green and head who have shown they can make runs against either shield attacks on par with an archerless England or other subpar touring attacks.

None of our backup bowlers have the penitration Cummins has, and come the 3rd+ test when starc inevitably starts bowling garbage the lineup looks and feels extremely subpar.
